Yet you felt compelled to respond by addressing the poster instead of the post? Good job "moderator". This place is getting more and more like BBF everyday, with moderators deleting threads and needlessly baiting posters. If you don't find what I post of any value, why don't you ignore it? Or, do you feel it falls within your duties as a "global moderator" to point out every post you don't find worthy of your time?

You're the one who made this personal by addressing the poster instead of the post.

    I'm done.

Why should I ignore a smug post from SlyPokerDog? I'm not baiting anyone, I'm alerting you that you have comprehension problems.

Plus SlyPokerDog made a big deal about me a long time ago, I don't see why he is playing the victim card now and I don't owe him jack. This also isn't BBF or whatever, I've never even been there before. If you come at me a certain way expect this cute exchange. ;]

You seem to be the one with the "comprehension problem".

You said, and I quoted you in my very first response,

You were wrong, and I provided stats to back it up. Those so-called not great playoff performances by Michael Jordan were still among the top fifty of all time and resulted in three more rings. How is that not great?

SlyPokerDog responded in his typical snarky, smart ass tone, didn't even bother to address the post, but chose to address the poster. If you want to talk basketball, fine. That's why I'm here. But if all SlyPokerDog wants to do is play your childish little games it makes me wonder why he is even here, let alone a moderator.

Uh yeah I'm a mod not one of your family members. I moderate egregious slurs, not edit my views.

:dunno: Trash talk is fine actually. Him acting like a smug confused man doesn't mean I have to be his pal, or that he can't trash talk me as well. Sportstwo is about laissez-faire standards.

I'm not wrong, SlyPokerDog has a reading comprehension problem.

I'm trying to make it painless for him, but you insist on me clarifying a pretty clear statement.

The concept that he struggled against the Supersonics and Pistons? How does this need clarification?

Keep the argument within the examples I provided.

Provide stats for those examples. Then explain why Kobe is better. While you're at it, provide examples of when MJ shot below 32% in three must win Finals games. Also, provide an example of when MJ trailed a 2nd round series 0-3.

    I'll wait.

Not that PPG is the only and best metric, but here are Jordan's PPG against the Sonics in the 1996 NBA Finals:

    1) 28 pts
    2) 29 pts
    3) 36 pts (+8 assists)
    4) 23 pts
    5) 26 pts
    6) 22 pts (+7 assists)

    AVG = 27.33 PPG

Me thinks you're grasping at straws on this one.

What about his shooting %'s? Allen Iverson was known for having big scoring games, but also coming at the expense of shooting 30 times.

He had some bad shooting games in that series but they won the series and his team never had it's back to the wall.

Kobe shot under 32% in three MUST WIN Finals games, losing 2 of them:

    Game 5 vs Pistons, 2004: 4 of 13 FGs
    Game 6 vs Celtics, 2008: 7 of 22 FGs
    Game 7 vs Celtics, 2010: 6 of 24 FGs

Kobe was bailed out by Artest in the Game 7 vs the Celtics. Kobe chokes or quits in big games in the playoffs. Heck, the Lakers would only be down 2-1 if he hit the last shot pf Game 1.

Oh and his Lakers blew a 3-1 series lead vs the Suns in 2006. Kobe quit in the second half of Game 7, refusing to shoot the ball.

Hmm, didn't say anything about Kobe being better. The league is certainly deeper though, and more defensive oriented. Jordan was terrible in his prime against the Knicks and the Pistons, and mediocre in other wins or close losses.

Lol, you might want to read up on history a little. He's gotten swept a couple of times brah.

It isn't just about team results either, he won the 96 title playing poorly. He was mediocre in his other two Finals appearances, he was terrible against Miami, bad against ATL, etc. :)

Yeah I wonder why they never had their back to the wall. Probably because he got bailed out, what a double standard.

So there are Finals games that AREN'T must win? There are playoff games against talented teams, you can just take off?

I don't really get your point, it has nothing to do with clutch, but skill level combined with teammate help. MJ should have lost a couple of those series in route to titles 4, 5, 6. They won 55 games without him, they can withstand his Kobe-eque struggles in the last 3-peat.

Yeah exactly, Jordan was an inefficient Iverson in that series. Game Score reflects exactly how done he was then.

How would you know? There's a reason he hasn't tapped out on basketball like Jordan did. Superstars play bad sometimes, none of them quit unless they need money desperately. Or play for the Clippers.

Yeah they lost that series, not because of him though LOL. Jordan can't even get to game 7 without Superstars around him. May 11, 1989 MJ quit against the Knicks.

Yeah and Michael Jordan in his best statistical season played at Chris Bosh level against Detroit. And he gave up on basketball and cost his team two titles. And then he gave up a year early after #6 and possibly cost his team another title in 99. He doesn't care like other players.
