Done for the year? Or just plain done? Sucks that it had to happen to one of the more humble players in the league. But I'm really not too surprised. Can he be the next Grant Hill? I'm not betting on it. I was dubious that he'd make a full comeback after the first injury. Now with both knees getting blown out I'm even more doubtful. He's kinda similar to Roy, IMO, in that they were great because of their athleticism but didn't put in the work to make the weak parts of their games better or their overall games easier. If I were CHI I'd blow the whole thing up.
It usually takes much more that one cartilage surgery, especially if it is removed, for knees to get really bad, and I believe this is Rose's first cartilage surgery. He could likely have been back is six weeks if they just took it out, but they chose the conservative choice (smart IMO) to reattach it. While he is injury prone I do not see this as anything remotely close to career ending. it could actually be career "extending".
Geez. That's near $30M in salaries out, $9M in. No way that's even close to working under CBA rules. There is no deal Houston could make for either without throwing in a bunch of players with Asik, or Lin. I don't see why they'd want to throw in Lin.
So essentially a fire sale that ensures you make the lottery. The one obstacle I see is how bad the east is. They would have to be all in on a tank job or they could be bad and still make the playoffs.
Mags I thought it was obvious it would be at least a 3-way with Deng going to HOU, Asik and parts perhaps going somwehere else, and assets like young guys and picks going to Chi.
That trade could really, really backfire down the road. Noah is a great player, but we still don't know the potential of CJ and Leonard.
Done deal. Dame/Wes/Nic/LA/Noah with Mo/Wright/Joel/Robin off the bench. Are you kidding me? That's a WCF team easily.
The one we all remember (the 10-day one) was, iirc, the 3rd Meniscus surgery/scope he'd had out of a total of 6. If all three were this "new" surgery, he might be playing today, but he might have missed a season or two in there somewhere.
CJ, Freeland and T-Rob for Noah. I don't know if it works numbers wise but I like it. Biggest blow to me is losing CJ without knowing what we got, but it's not like Chicago is going to give Noah away.
We're giving up our center. One that Bulls fans say they waited for for a decade+. Freeland isn't ever going to be a starter. Leonard is at least a roll of the dice.
I just don't know... we give up three players that are young with enormous potential. CJ hasn't even stepped on the court yet, and many thought he had rookie of the year potential. Robinson might be rough, but the talent is undeniable. Leonard is, well, I don't know.... a huge question mark. It's the same kind of move that we made years ago acquiring Dale Davis. A role playing big man who plays good defense and rebounds so that we can win now. That one blew up in our face, and we only traded ONE young guy in that deal.
If you bring in Noah and keep Lopez, you don't need Freeland. At least Leonard has the potential to be something special some day. Not saying he will, but the potential is there.
Why do the Bulls trade an all star for stiffs? Portland isn't the only game in town. I'd do Boozer and Noah to the Knicks for Amare and Chandler. $40M+ in expiring deals in 2015. I'd do Boozer and Noah for Bosh and Anthony. I bet the Heat jump on that.
