It looks like the Seattle arena in Sodo may get built. Bringing a team back to Seattle gives means the return of a natural regional rival for the Blazers. Plus it cuts down on some of the travel, which can only help (unless of course one of our players is driving a yellow hummer). As a Blazer fan who may be moving back to Seattle in the next year or two, getting to see them play twice a year would be sweet. http://www.seattlepi.com/local/komo/article/McGinn-Arena-deal-reached-Sonics-fans-have-3854965.php
Aren't the Maloofs still looking to move/sell? If not, I'm not sure who it'd be. No New Orleans. Maybe if this deal got done a year ago, but their new owner is not going to move the team out. Maybe Charlotte. I could see MJ eventually selling.
Realistically I think the Kings are the last chance to have a team soon. Memphis and New Orleans were the other candidates but they are now under new ownership and with long term arena deals. Unless somehow there are expansion teams but I think expansion is the last thing this league needs right now.
It's funny to see a lot of Seattle residents pissed off because of this. They assume this is taxed, which it is not. If you go to the arena, you will help pay for it, period. The Kings make a the most sense now that NOH are stuck there for several years. Complicated realignment gets it done
Much as I've hated the Sonics, that's not right. You can blame Howard Schultz, the Mayor, state politicians in general, and Clayton, but it's not the fans fault they left. They had rock solid attendance to the end despite Clay's efforts to make the team as uninteresting as possible.
yeah, for the fans it sucks. but I want the fans to revolt against shultz, the mayor and the politicians as much as possible and if they keep not having a team it will be more shit on the fire.
Actually Paul built the RG for Hockey as well. I think it was built with the possibility of the Penguins coming here.
If the Kings move north, it wont really help us much as far as travel. I hope the Kings stay in Sacto (or move to Vegas) and Charlotte moves to Seattle.
What about the Bucks moving to Seattle? They where 26th in the league in attendance. Toronto should be considered also. Players dont want to play there. http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance
