Same. His shtick is not very creative, essentially akin to the types of "snide" comments fans make all the time. I tried reading his most recent column earlier tonight because I was bored and thought something funny about the draft would be good. His "open letter to Blake Griffin" about how the Clippers were cursed was intensely boring. Way to jump on material that's been done to death.

He's a younger Andy Rooney. He's adept at recycling thoroughly dated/flogged jokes and imparting nothing new or funny to them.

There was actually a time when Bill Simmons was pretty funny.

Unfortunately, it was just that one time.

Dunleavy actually listed several facts as to why Simmons doesn't know what he's talking about and this is all he can do to respond? What a moron.

No, I haven't, sorry. Although I was only reacting to the part where you said that that Dunleavy listed facts, as opposed to Simmons who's a moron for responding like this. Yes, he can be a moron more and more often these days, BUT: First off, Dunleavy and the Clippers really ARE a joke. Secondly, this is exactly what I think Twitter is for. It's Bill Simmons on Twitter, so don't expect anything else.

Dunleavy was responding to Simmons remarks about how the Clippers have been horrible in the draft. Dunleavy brought up how their recent first round picks are Eric Gordon (very good rookie season), Al Thornton (very good young player), Shaun Livingston (good PG who suffered horrible injury), and Chris Kaman who's put up good numbers. He acknowledged that the Yaroslav Korolev pick wasn't good and that they took a chance in a draft he didn't like. Seriously, a lot of teams have been as good or worse than that in recent years. And last year they had a plague of injuries. A Michael Richards joke as your retort proves Simmons doesn't have credibility, and so his pot meet kettle remark is also complete horseshit.

I just think a coach who took the Lakers to the NBA finals and the Blazers to the WCF 2 years has a lot more credibility than some joke-writer turned insult-comic-via-twitter will ever have when it comes to basketball. But if he wants define his career and draw attention to himself by insulting half the league then more power to him.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Didn't Simmons lobby seriously for the Minnesota GM position? I thought I read that somewhere. I think he thinks of himself as actually knowledgable about basketball, rather than merely a (weak, IMO) humourist.

Wow, so NOT funny. Bashing the Clippers is like beating an 8-year old 21-0 in a game of 1-on-1 - and them taunting the kid. It's just too easy and not at all funny.

And, it's not like it's Dunleavy's fault the Clippers suck. It's a dumb ass owner and a horrible culture. Dunleavy inherited a train wreck and managed to lead the Clippers to a 47-35 record, made it to the 2nd round, where they took the Suns to 7 games. Hard to believe, but that season Dunleavy led the Clippers to a better regular season record and a better play-off showing than the Lakers.

And, as Dunleavy correctly pointed out, the Clippers have drafted pretty well recently. Heck, the Clippers in general, have done a decent jog getting good talent through the draft (or on draft day trades). Their problem isn't getting good young talent, their problem has always been keeping that talent - and that's the owner's fault, and goes back many years before Dunleavy became involved. If Simmons wants to bash the Clippers, Donald Sterling should be his target, not Mike Dunleavy.

Once again, Bill Simmons comes across as petty and bitter with a personal ax to grind. I'm not sure why anyone finds that funny,
