I would consider the tools he's been blessed with are generational, but so far his game not so much. Can't remember a young player getting so much hate before though. I mean he is only 20, just hope he can stay healthy.
Remember, he looked the same at Duke when he was head and shoulders above the competition. Incredible skills to go with unprecedented athletic abilities, but he looked completely lost when it came to running plays. It's not just a rookie learning curve holding him back, it's his overall grasp of the game. He needs to be immersed in the John Wooden learn-to-tie-your-shoes-before-taking-the-court school of basketball basics. I could maybe see him having a bit of that Meyers quality of the game moving too fast for him, despite having a supposedly great mind for it, but that doesn't really seem like Zion. He's usually moving faster than everyone else.
Great points. Looks at all the kids out there that were the "Next Great One" and didn't ever even get to the level he is at just 40 games into his career. I am definitely rooting for him. A couple assistant coaches and trainers I know who have worked with him say he is a very down to earth, humble, polite kid. Hard worker. That's enough for me to wish him the best.
Those were just sympathy checks in advance, for all that pandemic work you would lose. Stimulus checks for all that non-stimulating conversation. (I hope that comes across as not serious, being a potentially sensitive topic to lots of people.)
Michael Jordan really needs to calm down with all that scoring. So far ahead of the other three. Zion is a pretty electric scorer and he seems to have the chops to potentially be a Draymond Green-like bulky play-maker. I don't know where he'll end up in the pantheon of current players or all-timers, but I think he's definitely going to carve out a game we've never seen before (except from LeBron James, because James has done everything a basketball player can do, really).
Just hope this kid stays healthy. Love watching him play. My favorite players growing up were guys like Barkley, Kemp and LJ.....so he is right in that wheelhouse.
