Melvin Manhoef signed by Strikeforce, could fight Robbie Lawler/Evangelista Santos later this month in what would be an enormous barn-burner either way.
Lawler's opponent will likely be MFC veteran Trevor Prangley, so a Manhoef/Santos rematch seems more likely than ever.
Strikeforce has made a deal with Superchannel in Canada, so fans of the brand will be able to subscribe to Superchannel for $20/month (or less, IIRC) and get Strikeforce events rather than pay for their PPV's outright. Dunno if it will be cheaper because they don't do monthly events, but considering Superchannel is like six different channels with non-stop movies and whatnot it is probably a decent deal. I think they show a lot of Showtime content perhaps even including boxing (such as the Super Six, but I'm not sure).
^ In related news SF has also signed KJ "Why you scared homie" Noons. To fuck with Nick Diaz? Potentially.
Won't Strikeforce's good cards be on free tv though? They pretty much showed all their talent on that last card. (Fedor, Mousasi, Shields, Werdum)
^ Yes and no, they are only doing CBS shows like once every three-four months. If "Evolution" is any indication the in-between PPV's will be every bit as good. Just no Fedor/Mousasi and other M-1 slaves... I mean fighters.
Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, quickly becoming one of my favourite fighters, has called out Jose Aldo and will drop weight to make that fight happen. There are a couple of guys in line ahead of Cerrone at the moment but it's still interesting to hear.
Strikeforce head Scott Coker really wants to put on a fight between Jake Shields and Dan Henderson. Can't say the idea thrills me.
Strikeforce has booked April for their next CBS show. Fedor expected to fight somebody. Expect Mousasi to defend as well. Scott Coker trying to get Gina back.
