MMAFighting.com says not only has Fedor not even begun a training camp, the CBS show isn't even a certainty.
Fuck !? are you serious !? I want to see that show. Jesus, if Strikeforce folds the UFC will be the only organization with any legitimacy. I wonder who they'd pick up from SF? Rogers? Mousasi? Fedor (FINALLY ?) Hendo?
Just read the article, could all be a tactical ploy by SF to minimize the UFC's chances of counter programming, even though it is unlikely they would with an event already on April 10. Fedor could organize and train a camp with 6 weeks of prep time, too, according to the article. We'll see. Hopefully the card goes off as planned.
So the Hendo/Shields fight is signed but the date still isn't written in stone. Gilbert Melendez vs. Shinya Aoki could be on that card as well.
Strikeforce on April 17th on CBS will be made official on Monday...with no Fedor. Is Strikeforce big enough to where we can start its own thread, like we have the UFC one?
Yeah. Usually I throw up everything that is going on for the month regardless of what promotion it is.
Andrei Arlovski has signed a new contract with Strikeforce, effectively shelving his boxing career (for now). No word on whether he'll be a part of the upcoming "Henderson vs. Shields/Mousasi vs. Lawal" show.
So Strikeforce is planning another show on May 15th. Bouts should include Fedor Emelianenko vs. Fabricio Werdum, Andrei Arlovski vs. Antonio Silva, and Brett Rogers vs. Alistair Overeem in a non-title fight.
Also, Fedor's manager still wants to match him up with Barnett, long after interest in the fight has dissipated. He called Overeem a "steroid bully" which may or may not be a way of getting Overeem to fight Emelianenko but is certainly slanderous and hypocritical considering their desire to fight two-time junkie Barnett.
Josh Barnett will fight at Dream.13. No opponent named yet. Antonio Silva and Tim Sylvia have both reportedly turned down the offer.
Strangely, the headliner for WEC 49 will not be Cruz vs. Benavidez, but rather Jamie Varner vs. Kamal Shalorus.
