You gotta admit. Our guy is doing pretty darn good compared to the draft picks before him!!

    1. Derrick Rose - Wont be starting. Reports of struggling.
    2. Micheal Beasley - Wont be starting. Reports of TERRIBLE defense. Haslam to start over him. Sad.
    3. O.J. Mayo - Ok, he is killing it!!! I am kinda surprised he is doing so well.
    4. Russel Westbrook - Honestly, I haven't really heard anything good or bad about him.
    5. Kevin Love - I hear he is doing OK.
    6. Danillo Gallinari - Reports say he will start the season in the D-League.
    7. Eric Gordon - He is doing OK.. streaky shooter though. Not starting.
    8. Joe Alexander - Have not heard one word about him. That can't be good.
    9. DJ Augustine - Have not heard a word about him either. But I don't think he is starting.
    10. Brook Lopez - Not starting

Then we got our boy!!! He will be in the rotation, he will get minutes this year. He will not start in the D-League. he PROBABLY could start if we needed him to. He seems to be playing just as well as any of the above players (except Mayo). I am happy we got him :)

Uh, Oden was picked before those clowns.

    A whole year before.

I will be shocked if Rose is not starting. I saw last night's Bulls/Jazz game and Rose went toe to toe with Deron Williams with no problems.

    Rose is the real thing.

I have to admit that I am a little disappointed in Bayless- after a good Vegas league performance- he hasn't looked too sharp in the exhibition season. don't get me wrong- he's still a bargain considering where we picked him, but I was expecting him to eventually win the starting position this year and it looks like he's our third string point guard.

I'm a little bit confused, which "our guy" or "him" are you talking about?

    Batum, Fernandez, Oden or Bayless?

I'm pretty sure he means Bayless. Oden and Fernandez weren't in this draft, and he went exactly 10 deep before saying "And then we got our boy!"

Ah, you're right ... I'd kind of already forgotten about draft order.

Give him time. He just turned 20 years old, and is def. not a pure PG. As a PG, Sergio and Blake are both better than him which is why he is the 3rd string. He is doing fine in pre-season (better than a lot of the 1st round picks)...

    10.3ppg | 3apg | 3rpg | 26.5mpg

He has looked good alongside Roy also.... (10ppg | 5apg | 5rpg | 26.5mpg in the games Roy played w/ him).

Its pretty tough to expect more than 10, 3 and 3 from Bayless's rookie year, imo. He is only going to get better w/ his work ethic as he understands what he has to do to get on the floor (defense and PG skills).

    Compare his stats to...

    Westbrook (#4 pick) - 11ppg | 2.4apg | 3rpg | 24.6mpg
    Augustin (#9 pick) - 7ppg | 3.5apg | 2rpg | 20mpg

...and it's not very dissappointing, imo. I think we are just holding him to higher standards.

Personally, I think Rudy has looked great in the 2 games he has played, and he is gettin' 10.5ppg | 6apg | 3rpg | 28mpg w/ more TOs than JB. Just give the kid time.

I put this info out there because I was doin' this research the past couple days of similar type players to Jerryd picked ahead of him; and how they are doing in Pre-Season. Just thought it was interesting and wanted to share.

I must be the only one who is impressed with Bayless. The 2 games I saw, in person, his jumper was cash and he got to the rim at will. What, you didn't except any turnovers? C'mon! Bayless will go down as a top 5 player from this class.

If Bayless is our third string pg, we have an awesome problem. the best problem ever.

I haven't been that impressed by Bayless' play in pre-season but...who cares? He's extremely young, only played one year of college ball and has a ton of talent. As far as I'm concerned, we have really no more data on him than when Portland drafted him. A few pre-season games in his rookie year don't really tell us anything substantial about what sort of career he'll have.

rose may not earn the starting spot right away but is looking a lot better than bayless.
beasely was just reprimanded for lack of effort on D, not skill. still a future star IMO.
gallinari hasn't played a minute due to back troubles.
gordon has played exactly one game - and scored 33. could easily win starting 2.
alexander started slow, but then had consecutive very good games. looks very skilled.
b.lopez has been great and is likely to be starting sooner than later.
augustine wouldn't be expected to start unless they trade felton.
..and then there's rush, who has looked like one of indian's best players so far.

it could easily change, but so far at least "our guy" has been one of the bottom
3 or 4 least impressive lottery picks.

Oh, well thats good to hear Rose is the real deal!!! I like him a lot. I just have only heard bad news about him.

I still think Bayless is a top 5 player in the draft.

It's no big deal, I was just thinking of rookies as a whole; the draft and draft order are so far out of my mind right now ... and I'm looking forward to not getting excited about the draft lottery for a good long while (hopefully).

I am not sure why some are surprised about Bayless. He has only been a part time PG in summer league and in college. No way was he going to start his first year in the NBA. PG is the toughest position to learn. Personally he has looked better than I expected from what little I have seen. I think he just needs to slow down. He seems to be going full speed every play. Sergio and Steve have way more experience at this point. It shows.

With Marty out and having one of our great bench players move up to the starting lineup, I really hope Nate lets Bayless loose on the white unit to score and attack the hoop.
