OT Over 170 of Jeffrey Epstein's high-profile associates will be NAMED in court documents unsealed

Although we don't know who is on the list, I am fairly confident Hillary Clinton isn't.

 

You forgot to prove it wrong though, or at the very least offer your own theory on why the US would topple the Libyan government. Surely there was some reasoning behind it.

 

Wasn't it just protests due to drought and joblessness? Didn't Gaddafi have his military start shooting at the protestors and attacking them with riot gear, etc? Which just made things worse, and evolved into civil war?

What did the US have to do with any of it?

 

The US backed the coup, armed and funded the rebels who overthrew the government.

 

I definitely see that the US (as part of a multi-nation UN-led coalition) was involved after it devolved into civil war in 2011.

But since 2009 there were protests all over, and Gaddafi was very violent and brutal with protestors. People should have the right to protest, and the US supporting the protestors is a better move than standing by and watching an authoritarian ruler put down protests with violence.

I don't think US funding had anything to do with how the rebels treated Gaddafi once they captured him. He could have negotiated with the UN and gone into exile it devolved into civil war rather than ratcheting up the violence.

Libya has some responsibility to replace that leader with somebody better once the rebellion has succeeded in removing him from power. Perhaps the UN forces should have been better about making sure transition of power was in place, but that may have been viewed as too involved, as we have seen before.

 

I wish Stanley Kubrick were still alive to see this happen. He did a ton of research in his later years into the web of pedophilia that connected people in power. I think he’d have had some feelings about being vindicated.

Well yeah, after he was violently and brutally attacking the protesters... US and many other countries literally bombed him.

 

They were insurrectionists. And hey it’s not like he was kicking it with Epstein.

We have no duty to defend or in any way honor the rule of violent authoritarian dictators.

 

The French embassy in Tripoli was also accidentally hit, but no one was injured.
