OT Over 170 of Jeffrey Epstein's high-profile associates will be NAMED in court documents unsealed

I'm certainly not here to defend Epstein, but this whole 'guilt by association' thing is bullshit.

 

Still wondering what this is all about. All this talk about lists being released why have we heard no names?

Kimmel isn't really a comedian, he's a shock jock...got his start in radio with Corolla and Carson Daly...he's a professional host more along the lines of Tom Bergeron than Robin Williams.These late night guys have jokes written for them for the most part. Leno and Ferguson are legit standup comedians but not Fallon or Kimmel

A lot of comedians agree with me that standups are the real comics. A lot of actors who do comedicc roles or sketch artists who do ensemble work are very good at funny but they're essentially actors, not comedians. Kimmel is a host, always has been.....his ex girlfriend is an actual comic who does standup. Marc Maron talks alot about the difference between celebrities who use comedy in performance and actual comedians. Kimmel to me is a shock jock and always has been one. Everyone can define art to suit their own needs I guess. I sur don't find anything weird about it other than it's like musical categories and how they blend sometimes.

 

I've never seen his standup so it's news to me. Owning a club I'd guess he could work there no problem. Show me his netflix standup special and I'll bite. he's a host to me and that's how I describe his talents. To each their own. Kimmel built his career as a radio jock and talks about it often ...a lot of SNL alumni I also don't consider comedians but some folks will tag them that way because they are in funny skits on tv pretty much.

 

Seems like a difference without distinction to me. The churn of daily shows requires comedy writers even for people that started in standup like Leno. FWIW, Ferguson started as a drummer in a punk band and I am not sure if his standup career started before or after his acting gigs - seems silly to ignore someone's comedy chops because his path was different than the traditional Lenny Bruce origin story.

Was Mel Brooks a comedian, actor or director? Well, he started as a drummer, was pressed into "stand up comedy" in the Catskills before becoming a writer on the show of shows and going to be a movie writer, producer, actor and later theatre producer and director.

If Mel Brooks is not a comedian - there is nothing we can define as comedy, imho.

Jimmy Kimmel can entertain audiences via comedy, that makes him a comedian in my book.

 

A liot of people agree with you, and that's a good thing. Cosby started as a drummer as well. Tommy Chong started as a musician. Jimmy Kimmel came from radio and that's his roots so I deefine him as a host....it's all good. Whatever makes people laugh. Kimmel for the record is a great host and funny as hell. Great Oscar host. It's not something that I'd argue about much but that's just my opinion
