To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if Phil Knight helps OSU cover some of our costs for the renovation/whatever if we have to move to the MWC. We already had an anonymous $50 million donation a couple years ago to help. Knight was one of the potential people that made that donation.

It seems like the "rivalry" game changes to UW/Oregon and OSU/WSU.

I would have been in my 4th year right as the Sandusky stuff came out. Not mad to have avoided any affiliation with the school during that entire thing.

Oregon will lose games moving forward, in conference, out of conference, and in the post-season. This was the reality regardless of what conference they were in.

Oregon still has major disadvantages when it comes to competing to win a national championship. All that has changed today is they have reduced some of their disadvantages. It appears you want Oregon/Washington to lock in the scenario with more disadvantages, but I don't understand why.

If you're going to measure if Oregon made the right decision based off if they lose games in the future, then you are certain to be vindicated that you were right. I don't believe that is a proper measuring stick.

Jonathan Smith to be named Oregon's offensive coordinator. In all seriousness, Minnesota, Northwestern, etc. should be blowing up his agent.

I'm going to bet against the first part of that, but anything is possible.

I think Smith is a great coach for Oregon St, but as an Oregon fan, I'd be thrilled if USC replaced Riley with Smith.

Yeah, but he’d probably promote an annual fist fight between UO and OSU players for starting positions. ;)

I get how he feels. but really I never really got invested in playing the AZ schools or Utah/CO.
We will still play OSU and I bet Stanford joins eventually. So basically that leaves Cal and WSU

Same... I feel bad for OSU/WSU. I think it sucks the P12 screwed this all up so bad over a 15 year period. However, I've been in the camp for year that the Pac was a sinking ship and I've never believed "tradition" is a good reason to continue doing anything. In fact, I'd would argue a lot of stupid things have continued far too long over the last 200-300 years because of "tradition" or "that's how we've always done it."

Frankly, the whole idea of a billion dollar football industry being tied to higher education makes no sense anymore, but "that's how we've always done it"

Mitchell: Are FOX, ESPN Out For Revenge Against Pac-12?

    <LISTEN HERE>

This is the opposite of what other conference networks have done with FOX partnering with the Big Ten Network and ESPN creating the ACC and SEC Networks.

Scott’s future failed as the Pac-12 Networks were hardly distributed which led to a shortfall in revenue.

Unrivalaed’s Scott Mitchell has a theory about the possible demise of the Pac-12. Are executives of FOX and ESPN wanting to get back at the conference for not partnering with them for their league network?

“I guarantee you someone behind the scenes in television at ESPN and Fox said, ‘Hey, listen, if you put them on, you’re dead. You’re dead to me. You’re dead to me,'” Mitchell said. “And they go, ‘Don’t mess with us. ESPN and FOX said, Don’t mess with us. Don’t try to create a new network. Don’t try to compete against us, or we will bury you.’

“What I believe really killed the Pac-12 was USC and UCLA leaving,” he added. “So all you do is you’re at FOX, you’re at ESPN, and you go, ‘Big Ten, I know you’re not thinking about this, but I’ll tell you what would be really interesting to us is if we could have USC and UCLA’. So you go out and get them, and we’re going to make it a part of your deal. And we’re going to make your deal insane, north of $70 million per year,” Mitchell explained.

Keep in mind, this is tongue-in-cheek. But like all good humor, it’s based in small truths.

Those same higher-ups at television networks only care about money and the Pac-12 couldn’t get it done. This is why we are looking at the potential demise of the Pac-12 with over half the league either gone or close to being gone.
