Yeah, this was an uncomfortable game to watch. Matt Steinmetz is a prophet dude -- he said the Warriors could be hurt by the homerun. The thing is the Warriors did not do their scoring the way they had against Utah and San Antonio -- instead of attacking inside, the guards relied on a lot of low-percentage shots and drives, putting up prayer jumpers and circus shots that just happened to go in. Credit Baron and Monta for mind-blowing athleticism and talent, but If I'm Nellie those aren't the types of shots I want my team to live and die by. I mean Baron and Monta were very efficient with their scoring but it still seemed like many of the shots down the stretch didn't allow for second-chance opportunites or put-backs. I didn't like either turnaround jumper by Baron, the one he made nor the one he missed. Both shied away from contact, didn't get into the paint and didn't allow any chance for a rebound. Granted GS is a bit thin inside, what with Murphy playing like a SG and Foyle playing like....wtf ever, but still the Pacers won this game because they were the ones who got the ball inside and dominated the foul-line: 18-26 vs. 8-12. It just seemed like the Pacers were always ready to pounce and put in that final dagger. Hopefully this one stays sour in GS' mouth for a while, and they use that anger to grow from and develop more of a killer instinct.
AB with five fouls had something to do with it. Going inside that is. But who was out on Al Harrington?
<div class="quote_poster">jason voorhees Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">But who was out on Al Harrington?</div> I'm not sure but it looked like Barnes sagged off on a few of those made threes. He's usually a good defender, though. It's weird because if you look at the box score, man GS played great tonight. It was just the foul-line, and of course that moth#*&@ fu**#$ Sh!&tty F^U**ck%ing AHHHHHRAGGGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!! *$*%######$(@ FUC#@@#@K@#$KC sh$itt Bi((*tcH#@@ missed goaltend and cherrypick on the other end. Damn that hurt
Yeah, Barnes and MP are pretty good perimeter defenders. We should keep Barnes. Sometimes Baron is good. It's tough to guard someone when they're hot, but you gotta harass them into a pass or make them work for their shot. Or course they could burn you inside, but you gotta get out on them and have someone backup inside.
I was at the game through three quarters before I had to leave for work. It was probably for the best, cause I might have died of apathy after the end.
I hope they gave Baron an assist for his sweet pass out to a wide-open Jackson standing on the 3 pt line, that was perfect. I dunno what to say about Baron, sometimes he does amazing things but that fade away shot was not good shot selection, it seriously looked like the kind of one-on-one hero crap he was pulling last year. I hate to say it but the Warriors play less like a team sometimes when Baron is on the floor, especially at the end of a close game. Sorry about the rant, but I am bitter, very very bitter about this loss.

Hes our guy to take the big shot or make another shot for someone at the end of the game, he made one or two down the stretch but couldn't make the last one, all we had to do was play defense and get a rebound but we couldn't and they won. Its unfortunate because they hit 2 threes to end the game just after we'd had a decent 4 point lead with under a minute left, Baron made the right play to get the ball away from the hoop and the Pacer big men but we still lost.
<div class="quote_poster">HiRez Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> Sorry about the rant, but I am bitter, very very bitter about this loss.</div> No reason to be bitter. The Warriors hung in there until the last second, literally. It was a bad bounce of the ball (for the Warriors). What can you do? The difference between this year's W's and last year's is that this year's team is ready to play the next game. They know what they did right and know what they did wrong. I was thoroughly entertained and took the loss with a grain of salt. It wasn't a "must win" game...
So far this year-we had a lot of unexpected heroics that were major, plus Nellie's tactics stealing an edge-those thing just did not hapen in this one. The result was a game close enough that a bad call-a good play-or luck could tip the scales. We could have won it with one break at any point. Such is life.
Man what a heart-breaker. The Pacers are a good team. One of the best in the East. The Warriors played well in everything. The Pacers just got lucky hitting the 3s in the final quarter. Jackson did have a hand in his face (I hate just looking at that thug). When Granger jacked it up, I felt good, but the knockout by Baron? It looked from the replay that he had good weakside position and could have just hauled it in but chose to swat at it. Maybe its a good play but one of my college buddies used to say "if you can't grab it, don't touch it." Tinsley was left alone for a couple of 3s but they Warriors played great D inside the entire 2nd half. Down the stretch, crunch time, I thought the shot selection was good except for Pietrus' 3s which he simply needs to stop shooting. Baron and Monta penetrated, acrobatic or not, which is a whole lot better than standing around shooting jump shots. I was happy to see the Warriors play a complete game against a quality opponent. Now, let's see the consistency.
I think Baron was trying to hit the ball away from everyone because he knew there was not much time left. I think he was hoping it would either go to one of his teammates, or it would get past someone and run out whatever was left on the clock. Unfortunately, there was enough time on the clock for Jackson to calmly knock it down and not a Warrior anywhere near him because they were all crashing the boards...
I think Baron and Pietrus for all their talents can disrupt the offense so much... Baron turns into a shooting guard instead of a distributor and he does the opposite of what guys like Nash/Jkidd do in crunch time. Pietrus turns into a 3 point jacking machine that shoots sub 30% or below and doesn't know how to execute basketball plays. It's a team game, fellas! When you guys were out injured, the other guys were out there playing like a team against the Jazz and Spurs!

Give it to Monta. He wins games.
Baron has won plenty of games for the Warriors, single-handedly. So you have to take the good with the bad, I guess. But I'd like to see him face and up and go to the basket for a possible foul than shoot a turnaround fade-away. That shot is crap and it's a cop-out -- anyone can shoot one, hell I can go out there and shoot a turnaround on Jamal Tinsley, I may only hit 1 of 4 if I'm lucky, lol... but Baron sells himself short on shots like that -- they require little effort, and don't utilize his strengths -- what separates me from Baron isn't the turnaround jumper... it's pretty much everything else! What I could never dream of doing is snapping a double cross-over on Tinsley and then throwing down a one hand dunk on Jermaine O'Neal's forehead. Baron can do that. that's what makes him a star. That's what makes him so great. That's what he needs to be trying to do in crunch time... not backing it down for 20 seconds and then trying an off-balance fade-away roll of the dice.
I think everyone needs to relax a bit. Sure, Baron took way too many 3s and looked like he was lazy on the court at times last season-but that was last season. This year, I think he's realized the error of his ways. He's drastically cut down the number of 3s he's taking and doing a much better job of getting to the rim. This year he's also toughened up and started playing even though he's not completely healthy. He played 35 minutes last night with bruised ribs. Maybe healthy Baron would have gone to the hoop but after playing and getting hit for a full game he may not have had the explosiveness to get by tinsley and elevate with enough power to finish inside. He is the leader and he should be the one taking the last shot. You can say that if he's not healthy, he shouldn't have been in the game but that's not his fault as no player will ever take themselves out at the end of the game. I'm as excited about Ellis as anyone else but with the game on the line I want the ball in Davis' hands every time. Bottom line is that we shouldn't panic yet. We're still above .500 and aside from the Laker game and the loss in Utah, We hav had a chance to win every game. I think that is a remarkable improvement. The last 13 games we've faced teams like Dallas, SA, Utah, Phoenix, NO, and even Sacramento without being blown out once! With last year's team at least 5 of those games would have been over by the middle of the 3rd quarter.
Warriors fans emotions sway so much after one game. Baron tipped the ball out since he was trying to rebound on J. O'Neal, sometimes things go your way and sometimes they don't. Look at what happened to the King's when Divac tipped the ball out.
I did not get to watch last night's game. But the whole team should have tried to attack the rim more. The Warriors got killed not in FT% but FT's attempted. The Warriors either were foul happy especially on shooting fouls or Indiana doesn't try to foul at all (then of course there could be some ref inefficencies tha could be factored in, which I do not know of in this game because I didn't watch it). The Warriors did get 62 points in the paint, so I think the offense was pretty good last night and was getting inside. Also Baron only shot 2 3pointers last game, that is not bad. They shot above 51% and had 25 assists. Just a few turnovers and given up offensive boards hurt the team. The question is: who does the team depend on late in games? If we aren't depending on Baron Davis or Mickael Pietrus late in games, then what offense are we relying on? Troy Murphy? a below normal Jason Richardson? Andris Biedrins? Mike Dunleavy? This is the situation which makes having the star player so crucial. This is the situation where the game comes to a halt and the Warriors a team that gets its advantage playing uptempo needs to execute in a snail-paced game. Fortunately I think the team as a whole has the pieces to succeed enough in these situations including Pietrus' outside shooting(which has been red hot this season as he is shooting 51.4% from the field and 34.4% from three point line - which i think was a little bit higher before last game) and Baron's very good talent and skills(almost a triple double last night and 3 blocks). These situations may include just about everyone else from the roster. This is a puzzle that needs to be answered by the coach and the players' execution. I remember Ellis making some bad-timed turnovers late in games too earlier this season. So just giving the reins to Ellis late in games will not solve the puzzle but the whole team. The best thing for Baron Davis, and the fans who want him to become like Jason Kidd and Steve Nash late in games is that the coach - Don Nelson - who coached both Jason Kidd and Steve Nash is the head coach for the Warriors. Baron is still learning as a player. I think he has fallen a little behind due to some problems with previous coaches and having previously inadequate/below-average NBA coaches. But Baron is bound to improve a lot this season with Don Nelson as head coach. What ever problems Baron is making with decisions in game situations Nelson will change sooner than later. The Warriors needed the win last night. But things are still clicking pretty well, so it's time to turn to the next game I suppose.
