Religion has been around for many, many years. It has become okay to believe in it. Back when it was first "made" (religion) it was not as scrutinized because it had just happened to the people there. It spread fast. Now in these times, it has become natural to question religion and god, because there seem not to be any "divine miracles" (again self centered individuals).
