Why don't you post an argument instead of being a dumbass?

And this is precisely why we have the smartest fans :ghoti:

In all seriousness now, you could easily find this out by posting a poll in the general forum. And for some reason, I think you'd be wrong.

And just wondering...you've stated who you think is better...but give no reasons. How about you back up your claims for a change, instead of barging in here and saying we're wrong and you're right.

A poll won't prove anything, since apparently the Blazers are interested in trading for Amare, so obviously the entire fanbase will go there and vote for Amare.

I don't care if Amare is better than Pau, provide some valid evidence to backup your point. Don't just use that typical, "well you guys are Laker fans" bailout shit.

eh, the whole blazer fans thing isn't really all that relevant. they are definite split as to whether they'd want amare or not and i'd say more are probably against it than for it.

and no, i wasn't using some typical you guys are laker fans bailout shit. i was just simply stating that i doubt you'd find too many nonlaker fans that agreed with you. that doesn't even mean you're wrong, it just is what it is.

Hey, he's got a point. Why post something and not back it up? If you're going to make a claim, back it up, unless you have no real points to make, than in that case, you have no reason to even make the claim.

Oh but wait Moo, of course he is right. Only Lakers' fans would agree with us.

Id take KG, Duncan, Amare and Bosh all over Pau if we didn't have Bynum. But since Pau is a very good complimentary player to Bynum, i wont trade him for any other PF.

I know, right? How could we ever doubt someone that can't give any reasoning? It just seems so logical that Amare, Bosh, Dirk > Gasol. It's all so clear now. I should never have doubted him. He and his lack of reasoning has made me see the light.

But since Bynum's gone down, Pau has averaged about 25, 14, and 2. Amar'e is only better at finishing at the rim than Gasol IMO.

Bosh, I need a Raptors' fan to tell me more about him.

a poll would be irrelevant, but go ahead with one if you wish. i think you'd find what i'm saying to be backed up by it.

oh and "back up my claims for a change"? i barge in here regularly to say you're wrong?

with dirk, i really can't see how gasol has an argument over him at all. dirk is an absolutely elite offensive player. he's always the focus of opposing defenses but still produces at an incredible high level. the rebounding difference between him and gasol is not large(and much of it may be caused by the fact that dirk is more often on the perimeter) and any difference in defense is not very significant. even if i concede that gasol is a better rebounder and defender, the difference in dirk on offense more than makes up for it and makes him clearly the better player.

as for bosh, rebounding and defense wise, if there is any gap it's in bosh's favor. bosh and gasol have similar per's(with the slight edge to bosh again), but i think you have to give bosh a little more credit for being the focus of the teams he plays against while gasol gets attention deflected by kobe(and bynum until recently). bosh also is more aggressive and able to get to the free throw line more frequently.

another thing to consider with both bosh and dirk is that those two guys are forced to take more low percentage shots at the end of the shot clock because the team is trying to get the ball in their hands at that point. that's one area that really brings down bosh's efficiency and something gasol doesn't deal with because the ball is generally going to be in kobe's hands at that point.

with amare, he hasn't really been all that great this season. gasol has him in per and has him in defense as well. of course with amare, i don't think you can take this season as being completely indicative as to who he is as a player with what has been going on with the suns(though i don't think his production with the d'antoni suns would be an accurate estimate). as it stands this season, gasol has been a little more productive than amare but if you give amare credit for being at least a little better player than it seems he's been this year(and i think it's pretty reasonable to do so) i'd still give him the edge.

We should throw in Gasol and cover his salary while we're at it, that way it works. Since Dirk is just so obviously better than him, we wouldn't need them both.

i didn't realize that i had to explain. i don't think my stance on the top 5 pfs really is a controversial one at all and seems like it would be expected by all but a few fan bases.

if you need a raptors fan to tell you more about bosh so you can have an opinion, how can you even pretend to discuss who is better between the two players?

if the lakers could trade gasol for dirk, they would without hesitation.

So I might have gone a bit overboard, but you were seemingly refusing to back up your claims this entire thread, just choosing to say that we're wrong.

Gasol is a lot better defensively than you give him credit for. He held his own against KG in the Finals last year and has been rock solid all year. Also, I think he's clearly a better rebounder. Considering he gets almost 10 per game and also has Bynum and Odom collecting boards, that's pretty impressive. As for the argument of Dirk being on the perimeter...that might affect his offensive boards, but not defensive. He's not out on the perimeter that often on defense since most PFs work in the post.

Offensively, you really underrate Gasol. He's got one of the best back to the basket games in the NBA, one that is far greater than Dirk's will ever be. He can finish with both hands, has a nearly unblockable hook shot, a great fadeaway jumper, and he's also got an excellent mid range jumper. Dirk might be the better perimeter offensive player, but Gasol trumps him in every way possible in the post, plus his midrange game is right there with Dirk.

You forget that Gasol was the focal point in Memphis and was very successful at it. Gasol could easily be the focal point of any offense, but when you have Kobe, Odom and Bynum on the same team as him, less is going to be asked, it's pretty logical.

I can't see how this matters much, but whatever. Sure it hurts their FG% a little bit, but that's it. Big whoop.

I don't see how you can make a reasonable argument for Amar'e being better than Pau. Pau is better defensively, he has a better low post game, his jump shot is more reliable...everything goes in Pau's favor...well...except for dunking, which is consequently how Amar'e gets about a fourth of his points, and that's set up because of Nash.

And I give Amar'e plenty of credit. I realize he's a great player, easily one of the best PFs in the league, but he's not better than Gasol. He's a horrid defender, he's not a good rebounder by any means, his low post game isn't even close to that of Pau's...there's really nothing in his favor.

Doubtful. This statement shows you know nothing about the Lakers. Gasol is the PERFECT PF for the offense they run. He's a great passer, he can hit the mid range jumper, he's solid on defense, and he's completely ok with being 2nd fiddle to Kobe. The Lakers would not trade for Dirk if offered, because quite frankly, he doesn't fit as well with the Lakers offense.

So if someone told you that you were wrong, you wouldn't want an explanation. Right...makes sense
