Gay wasn't a leader on his college team and Swift's history with the franchise is well known to everyone. That plus Gasol being out effectively killed any confidence the team had built after making the playoffs 3 straight years. By keeping Battier and just doing the best they could this year they would've been able to build much faster with a high draft pick added to a team that had been making the playoffs but missed this year due to injury. Now they have to wait for Gay to become better than Battier, as a player and leader, and find a new #1 option because Gasol became disgruntled. The team is blown up now.

The Memphis Grizzlies are the worst team in the NBA. Pau Gasol should have the utmost right to want to be traded I mean who wouldnt? A superstar level playing big man is unhappy with his supposed franchise and wants to leave. Everything makes sense. This is exaclty like Allen Iverson's situation, except AI has been in the league for 11 years and hasnt won a ring. Gasol has sometime left. The sad thing that bothers me is that the Grizz got some pretty good draft choices, like Rudy Gay. I thought they were going to be a dominant team but apparently not.

For him to ditch this soon is ridiculous and uncalled for. If you thought Memphis was going to be a dominant team this year...you really don't know much about the NBA....

I knew the Grizzlies were going to be down this season. I knew this would be a re-building season. Memphis has a bright future with Rudy Gay, Hakim Warrick, A. Johnson, and Lowry, plus one, maybe even two lottery picks, then possibly Ben Gordon and Luol Deng. If anything, this is a bad season that will make the Grizzlies better than they have ever been before in upcoming seasons.
