The ten year survival rate for this disease is over 60%. That's enough to give one hope.

I think he had it in 82, not 72. At least, I know he had something that is rumored to have sped up his departure from Microsoft.

    By Paul Allen - October 1, 2018

I learned recently that the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that I was treated for in 2009 has returned. My team of doctors has begun treatment of the disease and I plan on fighting this aggressively.

A lot has happened in medicine since I overcame this disease in 2009. My doctors are optimistic that I will see good results from the latest therapies, as am I.

I will continue to stay involved with Vulcan, the Allen Institutes, the Seahawks and Trail Blazers, as I have in the past. I have confidence in the leadership teams to manage their ongoing operations during my treatment.

I am very grateful for the support I’ve received from my family and friends. And I’ve appreciated the support of everyone on the teams and in the broader community in the past, and count on that support now as I fight this challenge.

    Go Seahawks! Go Blazers!

Until 22 months ago, Paul Allen was Vulcan CEO. Maybe because of his mortality, he then hired Bill Hilf as Vulcan CEO. Today, Hilf said

So Allen left detailed plans. I wonder what they are.

Paul Allen would not fail to address something he fought for, keeping the Blazers in Portland, knowing that his health was failing. He wasn’t a stupid man. I fully expect that any sale will come with stipulations(at least for a prolonged period of time)on moving the team. Yes, that will eliminate some potential buyers but there are many people that have wanted to own an NBA franchise for a long time and seeing as they don’t come up for sale often, I’m sure one of them will be willing to keep the team where it is to become an owner.

I highly doubt the NBA would allow it. The NBA wouldn't even allow the Kings to relocate, so the Blazers? No chance.

This is very sad news. I was shocked when I heard it earlier. Rest in Peace, Mr. Allen.

It's amazing how no one has brought up that little peanut Canzano. I hope nobody does.

Someone on /r/nba said that no one said anything bad about Allen. And I was like "ehhhhhh you must have missed John Canzano hating on Allen and Vulcan Inc during the jail blazers era." Isn't that when John rightfully earned his Clownzano nickname?

What a devastating day. He’s been an owner for about as long as I have been a fan of the team. There are many good memories of this team and he is a key reason why there is. For many years we were spoiled as fans. It was only in the last few years that that changed and I think we are learning why so.

My condolences to all Blazer fans. We lost a great person today. He gave plenty reasons for us to be hopeful and excited and to discuss and post that excitement on boards like this one. I’m saddened and don’t think I have smiled or laughed since I heard the news. Just a devastating loss. Thank you for everything Paul and may your soul Rest In Peace.

Sorry for your loss, Blazer Faithful.

Great find. He was better than I thought. Got too roly-poly, but lost some weight later.

Rip Paul Allen. Very sad day to be a blazer. We can only hope that whoever buys the team has half the passion that Mr. Allen had.

On the other hand, this says not 5/6, but

    https://www.vulcan.com/News/Articles/2018/Statement-on-Paul-G-Allen

Click the Wikipedia footnote, and it doesn't verify the $500 million cited in Wikipedia. So I don't know.
