More than half of those people were no longer their franchise player or they left in free agency. You can't say a GM did that.

How is Iverson better than Paul Pierce? Bring on the Stats or Facts.

Danny Ainge wouldn't touch Allen Iverson with a ten foot pole.
Paul Pierce is a better team player.
The good people of Boston do not want the gansta Iverson.

Iverson is everything a Celtic is not supposed to be.

You can keep Iverson right where he is.

By the way does anyone remember Pierce destroying Iverson and the Sixers two years ago in the Playoffs? Boston 120 Philadelphia 87.
Pierce scored 46 and Boston never trailed in this elimination Game 5.

I also don't get why so many people are saying that Iverson is far better than paul pierce. Pierce is a darn good player, he scores, rebounds, gets assists and steals. Iverson does a lot of that too, and both of them don't have the best shooting percentages ever... Anyways I don't really see this trade going down, not because Iverson is heart of Philly, just because i hope that Danny Ainge wouldn't make this trade. Pretty soon Iverson's body is going to start breaking down on him, he gets beat up every game and hes a small guy. He's 29 and counting, hes going to be an old 32 or somethign soon, slower with bad knees and all. When he gets old, he won't have as much going for him because hes not the best shooter or anything and what keeps him great is his athletic ability.

Wishful thinking from Boston fans? No sane Boston fan would ever make this trade. In what way is AI twice as good as Pierce, missing shots, missing practice, fighting with coaches? AI scores a few more points and shoots a worse percentage. Pierce has a better 3pt %, more rebounds, and a better FT %. AI has more assists, steals, and more turnovers. IMO they are very equal as players, but why trade a younger player, for an older player who gets beta up every night?

Nope, I don't think so. That would be too great of an upset. Besides, the trade wouldn't help either team so it doesn't make sense.

OK BC, it's obvious you don't know much about Iverson.

His numbers aren't the only thing that counts... HE HAS HEART, DETERMINATION. He IS Philadelphia. A.I defines Philly.

He goes after the loose balls, drives into the 7foot players, sucks up the injuries, plays with broken fingers. He is a unique player which we won't see in awhile. Numbers don't mean everything in the NBA, althought Iverson still puts up jawdropping nubmers, he still plays like a benchwarmer who's trying to impress the coach with their hustle and hardwork...

The trade... won't happen, unless the 2 team's front office are braindead.

Paul Pierce is perhaps the best all around shooting guard in the league, second to perhaps only Kobe Bryant. When it comes to rebounding, his unlimited options to score, and his defense he's simply one of the best, no question about it.

Allen Iverson is not great defensively, sure he can steal but that's because he's quick and he plays the passing lanes. He's not a great one and one defender, nor is he a great rebounder, so your not getting nearly as much from Iverson on the defensive end as you would with Pierce.

Iverson's offensive game is also below Pierce's. Pierce is a far better shooter, he can also post up and play on the low block far better, If I recall correctly he's also in the top three in getting himself to the free throw line as well. The only thing Iverson has going for him on offense is his speed. His quickness gets him open looks and it allows him to slash to the lane and get himself to the bucket. Who's to say in a few years he'll still be as quick and explosive as he is today, Iverson's taking constant beatings on the court every night, I think it's finally starting to catch up with him.

Buts now that Pierce no longers has Walker. The opposing teams are all over him knowing that there's no one else they should be worried about since Walker isnt there. Now that Walker isnt here.....its all eye's on him, and he's the main focus and its funny how he's now shooting his carrer low. Iverson didnt really have much help thoughout his carrer and look at his FG%...Its not a pretty sight...Now that Pierce is alone, look at his FG%. Now that he's alone he is the MAIN FOCUS. And judging by the way he's carrying the team he isnt doing to well. Yeah the Cletics has a better record than the Sixers, but regardless Pierce isnt showing that heart that Allen Iverson has to carry a team. That what basically seperates him from Iverson. Believe me, if Pierce dosent have help his FG% will stay about the same or probably lowe.

This post can certainly be described as laughable, at best. I'll go ahead and break it down for you because obviously your blinded for your Allen Iverson "puppy" love.

Paul Pierce is shooting the worst percentage in his career? Funny how he's still shooting .07 better than your "boy" Allen Iverson though! Besides shooting better than Iverson, Pierce also leds the league in free throws. He also is better defensively, man to man, and rebounding. On top of that his team is actually holding down a playoff spot, how's Iverson doing?

Paul isn't showing the heart Allen Iverson is showing? How so? I mean Paul Pierce is actually showing up to practice, pushing and helping the younger talented develop. Iverson on the other hand is doing what? JUST READ YOUR OWN SIGNATURE!!! Practice? Yeah Allen, I'm talking about pratice. Perhaps it doesn't take "heart" to show up to practice, but it certainly helps your team, that's something Iverson apperantly hasn't realized yet.

Anything else? What's your next brilliant response, Allen Iverson is better than Pierce because he wears a sock on his arm?

WOW! He's shooting .07 better than Iverson. If Pierce is was by far a better shooter than Iverson, why is it only .07. It would at least be a 4-5% differnce.

Well how do you expect him to hold a playoff spot when he has one injury after another after another. From a sprained finger, swolling knee, strained shoulder etc.. He hasnt even played 11 games in a row this season. Plus Mark Jackson has been injured, Coleman injured and Robinson has been out for most of the season.

And as for the signature its just a stupid quote. Shaq and Ron Artest missed practice, but that dosent mean they dont produce for their teams, and play their asses off every game and try to lead their teams in the right direction. After all it was just a stupid practice after the all star game nothing that serious its just that Chris Ford the new interm coach wanted to be a big man and blew things out of proportion. But besides AI hasnt missed a practice in a while.

But you know what I dont want to get in a all out Iverson and Pierce battle. But clearly Allen Iverson is a better player. He's not a better all around player than Pierce because of his size. Cause basically almost everyone is a better all around player from Richard Jefferson to Peja. But honestly if you would want someone to lead your team and carry your franchise to the next Allen Iverson would clearly be a better choice over Paul Pierce plain and simple.

I'd also be surprised if Iverson was traded away from Philly, but not because of some emotional attachment to the city. Iverson is a very unique type of player, and a franchise would only accept him if they planned on starting over from scratch and building around him. Most teams aren't going to want to build around a 6'0' guard who's injury prone. Yeah, he's an amazing offensive player who can drop 50 on any given night, but I don't think he's as marketable as Philly fans might think.

Ainge would be a fool to trade Pierce for Iverson. I'm pretty sure he wants to keep Pierce as a central piece to his team. Part of the reason he traded away Walker was too give more room for Pierce to grow as a marquee player, in my opinion.

He's far better because even when Pierce is statisticly having his worst shooting year of his career it's still THAT MUCH BETTER than Iverson's percentage.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Well how do you expect him to hold a playoff spot when he has one injury after another after another. No no no. I could care less if Iverson is making the playoffs or not, the fact is you slammed Pierce because of his team's record. Here's your exact quote:

"And judging by the way he's carrying the team he isnt doing to well. Yeah the Cletics has a better record than the Sixers, but regardless Pierce isnt showing that heart that Allen Iverson has to carry a team." - I3

Judging by the way he's carrying his team, he's making the playoffs. Simple as that, his team has made SEVERAL changes this season and Pierce still has them in the playoff picture. So how can you claim Pierce isn't a leader, how can you claim he isn't doing well? He is showing up every night and helping his team along, a team that is drasticly different compared to last season, yet they're still in that playoff picture.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And as for the signature its just a stupid quote. Shaq and Ron Artest missed practice, but that dosent mean they dont produce for their teams, and play their asses off every game and try to lead their teams in the right direction. But besides AI hasnt missed a practice in a while.</div>

You said Pierce wasn't showing the heart that it takes to carrying a team, you went on to say he isn't showing the same amount of heart as Iverson is. How is that so? Pierce is going out EVERY night and helping his team, he's going to EVERY practice and pushing his team. That's HEART, that's showing your desire to want to improve yourself, your teammates, and your team as a whole. So tell me, how is Iverson showing more heart than Pierce?

Iverson hasn't missed practice lately? Didn't he just get fined by his new head coach for not showing and not contacting him prior to doing so? Yeah, he's sure setting the right example for his teammates, it must be that "heart" you speak of.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">But honestly if you would want someone to lead your team and carry your franchise to the next Allen Iverson would clearly be a better choice over Paul Pierce plain and simple.</div>

How so? Iverson doesn't show up to practices, he's draws negative attention from the media, and he's ran two coaches out of Philly since last season and has already had a run in with his current coach. You want this guy carrying your franchise? Perhaps because he can fill the seats, but he doesn't help develop young talent and he doesn't make his teammates better. How can you push your teammates if you aren't even participating in practice? Look back to The Bulls prime, Michael Jordan pushed all of his teammates in practice, Pippen and Jordan's battles in practice were considered epic. That's what makes great players, the behind the scenes leadership. Not going out on the court, getting your numbers, and hoping for a win.

AI didn't drive any coaches out of Philly!Him and Randy Ayers got a long fine as for Ford he will probally not even gonna be the Sixers coach fo long term so he will leve its not AI's fault.Ai's flight got delayed what do you want him to do drive from L.A to the practice in Denver!!!!That why he missed practice.AI averages almost 7 assist those assist have to be gettin someone better.AI trys to play hurt he trys to do everthing for Philly. He has missed one practice so what.Im sure he hasn't missed practice a lot. It's not like he is constantly missing practice.

Like I said. Im not trying to start a war with this Iverson and Pierce situation. The way its going right now this thread might turn out to one of those "who's better" threads, and go on for like 10 pages before its eventually locked. And its not like your going to change my mind, and Im not going to chance your's. But seriously if you actually think that Paul Pierce is a better player and can actually lead his team farther than AI could, then you must be smokin' that Bob Marley...

Sorry I just had to reply to this one...

Far better? You must be talking FG% wise not indvidually. But then again how long has Pierce been on his own? Hmm like...66 games...Iverson on the other hand has been alone for about...532 games practically his whole carrer...Looks pretty even to me dont you think? Believe me if Ainge dosent get anybody to go along side with Pierce, and have Pierce as the only go to guy expect that FG% to stay the same.

Sorry I don't buy that, when AI made his run to the Finals he wasn't by himself. I would take Dikemebe Mutumbo in 2000 over Antoine Walker of the last few years. Dikembe was a defensive machine. Also AI has had good players around him, Stackhouse, KVH, etc. but he can't play with them. They are always traded because he doesn't like playing with them. Pierce has never complained about teammates, he just goes out and plays.

Could everybody stop fighting over who's better.Allen and Pierce are both great and unique players. You can't compare players. They are all different people. One of them will be better at offense and another better at defense. No matter how long you try,you will never know who's better.

And as to answering the question for the Paul Pierce and AI trade.I don't think it wouldn't help both teams. So i think it wouldn't be a good deal.

    Wow...........

I don't even know what to say other than I know of ZERO Boston fans who desire AI in our team. He's a chemistry killer.

To say that PP isn't half the player AI is, is simply ludricrous. I'm sorry to say it that way, but that comment simply smacks of homerism.
