Well, if you guys were casting votes, it's very hard not to vote for Hubie Brown also. If him or Sloan win it, I'm happy. =)

It should be between Hubie and Sloan. Look at the thing that he's doing. They're getting a good place in the playoffs with all their starters not working that hard compared to other stars playing 40+ mins. per game. It can spell a difference in the postseason.

As for Sloan, he already eclipsed the earlier projected 2 win record. hehehe. Come on guys, with the line-up that he was stuck with would you really believe that he went this far?

The fact Sloan is in the west and lost his best scorer mid way through the season shows how great a coach he is.

My vote still goes to Hubie though, yes they have plenty of talent but without Hubie would those guys of matured like they have done? hell no. Winning coach of the year should be more than the win/loss column. He has made those players from boys to men in some sense. 28 wins last year and fighting for homecourt advantage in the western conference? unbelieveable.

Silas has done a great job no doubt about that but the way the east has been this year I refuse to give the award to a coach in that conference.

There has been some big improving teams this year, but you have to give it to Hubie the more you think about it. To be in a contest for home court when you have been below mediocre for years is an achievement. It all depends on how they finish the year.

For Silas to get it, we need to finish over New Oreans and Milwaukee, which is becoming more possible by the day!

There are a few good canadates. But, look. The Cavs won a whole 17 games last year. And looked terrible in doing it. This they are a totally different team. They could end up doubling their win total from last year, and making a trip to the post season. That's coach of the year stuff if you ask me.

right, but memphis was nearly as bad last year but their record is fantastic now, and they did not really change their roster and get a lebron or a mcinnis like the cavs

I think Silas' greatest impact on the cavs this year can be seen in the rebounds column. We lead the league this year in rebounds. Without that, the cavs wouldn't even be in the playoff hunt. Booze talked in an interview about how coach Silas got together with him and the other guys and taught them some "secrets" to rebounding. Silas was a great rebounder in his day and is instilling that in the cavs. It's hard to point to any other coach in the running for COY and see such a dramatic difference in the stats. With the way the Cavs are playing post jmac trade, i say Silas deserves COY. Just imagine where this team would be if we had made our trades earlier in the year.

Also, just imagine where they would be had no trades been made.
