I bet the athletes love going to 6 flags and sea world... but seriously I guess if you want to be a king, that would be nice...

hmmm....and then he can basically base the articles on which cities are the most fun for young, rich africian americans to live in? yeah, that'll go over nicely.

chicago is a great city and the drunken losers in that city really take in to their teams. they are real die-hards....sure, there are die-hard blazer fans who are obsessed like on this board...but more than not, the numbers aren't that many and its more bandwagon peeps than anything. in chicago, being a sports fan is part of the culture.

Would you still hang around your sibling/parent if they became a deadbeat? NO! What's wrong with being a fair-weather fan? The point of a sports team is to entertain. If the team is playing awful, why go to the game (unless you want to see some other team that is good). I don't think the Blazers would have bad attendance if the team went 30-52.

Dude, I'm not questioning why they're ranked above us, I'm questioning why the author points to the fans as a negative in Portland, as opposed to a place like Houston/Orlando... Not. hard. to. understand.

because Portland fans have a reputation for "blazermaniacs". he's taking a dig at them as being just like any other fan and showing that they do abandon their team if they're not winning.

While on the subject of city bashing--

I will never understand why someone would want to live in NYC. I don't get the fascination--perhaps cause I'm a middle aged, happily married guy with kids but there's no amount of money that could ever get me to move to NYC.

I'd like to live there, but its too expensive. it'd be fun for a younger, single type.
