If the pelicans kept losing they also get a higher chance of getting top 4. We want them to win, just not too much
Best scenario is Pelicans lose and don't get top 4 2nd best scenario is Pelicans win and don't get top 4 Worst scenario is Pelicans lose and get top 4, or win and get top 4, or win and then win playin If you prefer high risk high reward you may want to root for them to lose. Or if you prefer low risk root for them to win some, although not enough for the playoffs.
Unless AD comes back and helps the Lakers, it looks like our pick will come down to the Clippers/TWolves vs. Pelicans in the 2nd play-in game.
I'm more annoyed that our GM couldn't neogtiate more favorable protections for that pick. 2022 #5-14 or reverts to a 2025 pick from Milwaukee? Pathetic. We couldn't throw in a clause to say if the Pels pick doesnt convey, we got the Lakers pick? There is a real scenario where the Bulls might get more from us for Nance than we will get for CJ. Idiot Cronin. ...
So Portland would get the Bucks' pick then? That will be in the high 20s. Awful, just awful haul for CJ.
We should have demanded Herb Jones and Josh Hart, or Herb Jones and if the pick didn't convey we got the Lakers pick. I'm starting to think Cronin completely screwed the pooch. I already thought the LAC trade was among the worst in Blazers history. You'd have to go back to trading Moses Malone, Fat Lever or Jermaine O'Neal. Just awful.
2025 is a long ways away. Shit happens in this league. Bucks could be the worst team in the NBA by then. Look how quickly the Lakers collapsed. They won a championship 17 months ago and now they're 9 games below .500.
Worst case - 0 picks. Best case - 2 picks too late in the lotto to have much value. Of course, we could still have Trent and the 2 young players from the picks we gave up for Powell and RoCo, and the 2 players from the picks we gave up for Collins. Thanks to Olshey and Cronin we have neither a present nor a future. What we need is new ownership and a complete purge of the front office.
Let's at least be real about this the best case scenario is a top 4 pick of ours and a late lotto pick of theirs. We are obviously committed to the tank, so we'll just see how everything plays out. Regardless, there should be a new GM who has no ties to the Olshey era but if the best case scenario happens and we do get the Pelicans pick along with ours being near the top of the draft, I think they'll probably keep Cronin which given the moves he has made and his history with Olshey is a scary proposition.
