If you move Aldridge to center he'll just get injured for the season. The best thing we can do is hire a new D-League center until they blow their knee out, then hire another. If no centers are left who are brave enough to play for us, then we'll just not have a player in the post... ever... and call their position "power guard".
Or maybe we could just cut the team down to three guards and three forwards, then fill the other nine positions with centers. I propose: G: Roy, Miller, Matthews F: Aldridge, Batum, Cunningham C: Oden, Camby, Przybilla, Freeland, Steven Hill, Earl Barron, Marcus Campbell, Jared Reiner, Major Wingate
Didn't Skinner make some remarks about the Blazers when he was traded? Seems to me he burned some bridges.
If Dampier would sign with Portland, I'd be really happy with that pick-up. For all that he's reviled as a "terrible player," he's actually been pretty serviceable, both over his career and recently. He'd make an okay starter and a very nice reserve.
Because of the 2 guys coming back. If you are serious about believing they are going to come back and be a part of this team then you have to plan that way. Damp will not want to sit once those guys come back, and he doesn't want to take a partially guaranteed contract.
Has Chris Hunter been picked up by anyone yet? He could be good for you. I liked his game a lot last season and don't understand why GS didn't bring him back, he's better than Gadzuric. Big body, rebounder, doesn't block too many shots but doesn't get pushed around either. decent enough hands to get some points off putbacks. And he'll only cost a minimum salary, probably doesn't even have to be guaranteed.
