JWill, give up. You lost this one.

Looking at it again, I like this trade. However, it is very unlikely that it will happen (not that anyone said it would). Imagine the Grizzlies lineup if they did this deal, and either the James for Knight or Dampier for Person deal -

    C - Wright/Dampier or James
    PF - Gasol/Swift
    SF - M.Miller/Battier
    SG - Posey/Hardaway/D.Jones
    PG - J.Williams/Bell/Watson

That is definitely a playoff worthy lineup.

Phoenix also comes off with a good deal since they will add cap room in the future. Sort of like how Atlanta traded for Brandon so they could lose his contract and get cap room in the future.

You said the deal wouldn't work capwise.

I proved it could, using realgm. I also proved it mathematically.

You still haven't came back and said why the deal wouldn't work capwise, as well as why the deal doesn't make sense for either team.

Vintage added Humphrey's 1.1 million dollars per year and it still worked. Come on, JWillTheFreak, why do you think this would be a bad deal for Memphis? I know that you must have some reasons.

Incase you haven't noticed, Memphis has seventeen players, but the NBA only allows every team have fifteen players on their roster. Dickerson is out for his career. Humphrey is still young and he could potentially be good but he is not going to get playing time on Memphis. Trybanski is arguably the worst player on the Memphis roster. Last, but not least, Knight is getting older and now that Memphis has Watson and Bell, Knight is no longer needed.

Do you know how to read? At all?

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Vintage:</div><div class="quote_post">Memphis trades: SG Michael Dickerson (4.8 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.3 apg in 14.5 minutes)
PG Brevin Knight (3.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 16.9 minutes)
    C Cezary Trybanski (0.9 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 0.1 apg in 5.7 minutes)
SF Ryan Humphrey (1.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.2 apg in 9.3 minutes)
Memphis receives: SG Anfernee Hardaway (10.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4.0 apg in 30.7 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -0.9 ppg, -1.0 rpg, and -1.8 apg.

Phoenix trades: SG Anfernee Hardaway (10.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4.0 apg in 30.7 minutes)
Phoenix receives: SG Michael Dickerson (4.8 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.3 apg in 6 games)
PG Brevin Knight (3.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 55 games)
    C Cezary Trybanski (0.9 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 0.1 apg in 15 games)
SF Ryan Humphrey (1.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.2 apg in 48 games)
Change in team outlook: +0.9 ppg, +1.0 rpg, and +1.8 apg.
    </div>

I had Humphrey included in the realgm trade. When I posted the salaries the first time, I forgot to add him.

But when I re-posted it, and proved it mathematically, Humphrey was included:

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Vintage:</div><div class="quote_post">Hardaway- $13.5 million

    --------

    Knight- $5 million
    Dickerson- $6.1 million
    Trybasnki- $1.6 million
    Humphrey- $1.1 million

    = $13.8 million

So take 13.8/13.5(since both teams are over the cap).

    You get 1.02.

Or, 102%. Is 102% less than 115%? Yes. So it works. Now do you care to explain to me why this doesn't work?
    </div>

SO FOR THE LAST TIME, HOW THE HELL DOESN'T THIS WORK CAPWISE?!?!?

I HAVE PROVEN THIS OVER AND OVER. YOU JUST FAIL TO EITHER READ IT, COMPREHEND IT, OR ADMIT IT.

    ERRRRRRR.

Knight= not needed by Memphis anymore. Watson and Bell are more than capable backups.

Humphrey= scrub. Whether or not you want to admit it, he is just that. He will be behind Gasol, Wright, Swift, and the wing players in terms of PT. Translation: lucky to touch the floor at all.

Trybasnki= scrub. Same situation as above. Barely got PT, even at Memphis' weakest position.

Dickerson= Set to retire. Adios. Bon voyage. Stick a fork in him.

May as well get something useful from a bunch of nothing(and thats what it is, as Memphis has little to no need for any of these players).

    No, Dickerson is done.

And Penny isn't almost done. He still is a good player. He just sacrafices his statistics for his team. As a result, his ppg went down. That doesn't mean he is a bad player. It means he is a team player. There's a huge difference.

Spartan has already stated why Dickerson is done. I could even back this up with some of roby's posts, but I doubt you'd take the time to read that.

Dickerson is done for; whether or not you want to believe it. McDyess has a better shot at coming back.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWillTheFreak:</div><div class="quote_post">DICKERSON IS NOT DONE</div>As a matter of fact he is. Have you watched the Grizzlies these last two years? Dickerson hasn't played one real game yet, and I don't see him playing any this season. The insurance company has picked up the majority of his contract, and he has not been able to practice with the team all summer.
