It’s in Lahaina so I assume so.

Just got an update. She hasn't heard from her grandma and uncle since Wednesday. Her mother is currently visiting Oregon from Maui right now. I can't imagine what they're going through. 36 have died, as of this morning.

My Maui co-workers have been heavily impacted. A couple have had to sleep at the Maui office. Lahaina is decimated. Deaths are being heavily under-reported thus far, as a friend has told me (his brother-in-law is a Maui PO). The Big Island wild fires were not huge and mostly contained pretty quickly. They were up near where you’d be when heading from the Hilo side over Saddle Road into Kona. I mean, there’s always danger with fire, especially when it’s dry and heavy winds, so they definitely had some road closures and had to re-route some traffic and had folks prepared to evacuate, but overall, pretty light. As riverman said, nothing where I’m at (Mountain View on the Hilo side).

We had several customers lose their businesses and/or homes on Maui. It’s been pretty somber around here. We were talking about it today during a casual convo after a meeting. And I showed everyone the alert I’d just gotten on my phone about looking “fire weather” arriving in Oregon.

We’ve pissed Mother Nature off in a major way.

What is he even implying. That they got bombed or something? These right wing lunatics are so far gone their conspiracies aren’t even comprehendible by anyone outside of their cult anymore.

Jewish forces have been trying to dominate the Pacific for many, many years.

Pearl Harbor - few know it, but in 1941, 98.23% of Japanese people were Jewish!

It's no surprise that Maui would be their next logical target.

I believe we need to harden defenses around Knott's Berry Farm before they strike the mainland.

I've watched him play for years--"Harden" and "defense" do not belong in the same sentence.

    Such a tragedy.

Lots of questions on how this could happen. Many of the victims are very angry.

It appears the strong winds took out the electrical systems that power the emergency sirens and phone systems. Then a fire started near the town fueled by the high winds.

One possible answer to consider to help prevent this from happening again, is to have the entire emergency sirens and phone systems backed up by a battery power supply. Especially in areas prone to high winds.

I can unequivocally say that statement is nonsense.

I once had Sushi in Israel. Their food is among the best in the world, but their Sushi is really really bad.

Now on a serious note, this is really really sad. Wind + Fire is not a good combination. Several years ago we were evacuated during the Cocos fire when Santa Ana winds and fire combined... It was not a great experience.
