    Bill Walton, Sam Bowie, Greg Oden. Portland simply can't afford to take a risk on a center with injury history. Oden? Roy? Both had injury history, and Portland is suffering the consequences now because of it.

    None of which had to do with his knees. His hips and his leg length, neither of which, I imagine, meant "double MF coming!" or "snapped-in-half-patella coming soon!" to the guys doing or analyzing the physical.

    He played for Magic Johnson's old college team and had a great smile like Magic Johnson. And he was a point guard (like Magic Johnson). And like Magic, he led them to a championship.

    Despite no similarities to their ability, you have to think that maybe he'd be the next Magic Johnson.

    I like Nic, but you vastly overstate his worth ... he couldn't net us a young stud point guard nor a high quality big man for instance. If he is traded he'd probably be able to get us a MLE type 1 or 5 and even then you'd probably have to sweeten the pot with Andre Miller's unguaranteed deal.
