    I find it really funny Jackson couldn't even show up. Every time he comes to Portland, he always bitches and bitches about everything from the weather to the fans to the clean air to pre-game video to the color of the sky.

    So he doesn't even bother to show up... I'm sure because he couldn't handle the fault of losing again in Portland. And the all he does is bitch. If you don't have the balls to show up, you don't have the right to bitch.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
    I think he switched to Byron Scott or something, randomly.

    DaRizzle getting a little rattled. I'm amazed that he sees Byron Scott and Kurt Rambis as two star coaches that LA has a line on. I'm sure he's lined up Michael Redd as the future superstar to replace Kobe, too. LA is going to be great forever... ;)

    So you think the Lakers just have their thumbs up their collective butts not planning on Phils retirement? Ok...

    No, I think Scott and Rambis are absolutely nothing special as coaches. Phil Jackson is a great coach (though I think his much-vaunted "mind games" are irrelevant). More likely than not, LA is going to be facing a serious coaching downgrade when he retires.

    Flatter myself? Don't flatter yourself by thinking that's why he missed. Full Jackson knows LA couldn't win, he didn't want to accept it, so he didn't show up. He bitches every time about Portland, trying to fire up his team, and last time they didn't even bother to show up, so Jackson decided he wouldn't either. Too embarrassed from the last time. But I don't blame him, the way ESPN and some of the other media rode the blowout.

    Not always. ;) After the Magic Johnson era, two men created their latest success: Jerry West and Phil Jackson. West is long gone and Jackson will be soon. Kupchak is a competent GM, but not brilliant. Inheriting Kobe Bryant has been crucial to this team's success, though he certainly made good complementary moves in acquiring Gasol and Bynum.

    Once Jackson is gone and the last legacy of West, Kobe Bryant, is gone too...I think LA will be like any other team. Jerry West made LA such a long-time great franchise. Maybe they can luck into another brilliant GM (and head coach), but odds are against it.

    Life goes on, certainly. ;) The Lakers will simply suffer from not having anyone brilliant in their decision-making roles, unless they're lucky enough to find someone like that soon.

    But they'll at least be good as long as Kobe is in his prime.

    It would be funny if Kobe left for Detroit next year.

    There is a wonderful opening there to discuss just what Phil and Jeanie REALLY do in privacy.....but even I am too adult to go there.

    :smiley-fist::sheep::smiley-domina::smiley-corbis: OK.....maybe not.

    Ya, when it truly counts, like playing for HCA through the playoffs,,,no wait, they lost that when they lost to the Blazers. Guess that doesn't truly count. Just assures they won't win in the finals if they get that far.

    Well at least you admit you'd rather have Lebron than Kobe. I don't blame you.

    LOL. Phil doesn't know what he's talking about. Every team shows video packages before the game starts. Every team has a video package when they introduce the starting lineups and it is supposed to rile up the crowd. Clearly, Phil is scared to death of playing us in the playoffs.
