The biggest difference are 5 things. 1.) Pierce is a proven leader and superstar 2.) Pierce has a +4 PER on Batum 3.) Pierce has a +1.2 Win share 4.) Pierce has a +2 defensive win share 5.) Pierce has lead his team to a championship and 2 finals appearances
And Nic hasn't been asked, and isn't expected, to play the role that Pierce plays. You're comparing a role player (a great one) to a HoF player...and their production is shockingly similar.
Funny, Batum is getting paid only 3 mil less than Pierce. And Pierce got his when the CBA was still wide open. Batum's contract is at the rate of near max from the new CBA. I expect that from that type of pay grade.
