<div class="quote_poster">custodianrules2 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">We still do not have an inside game. And that will be sad when we shoot low % points and can't defend worth crap. If we're a good fastbreak team that means we have to make stops to get out on the break. If we're stopped, we have nothing to offer in the halfcourt unless a substitution is made to get back in it. I think Nelson should know that in order to get high % points in the paint we can't have power forwards bombing threes on the arc and guys that can't catch to save their own life.</div> This is why I am thinking that either Andris or Ike should probably be starting at some point in the season. Andris especially could be a good fit, because he is very athletic and can run very well, and he has such good hands that he could beat a lot of centers or slower PF's up the court for some easy points in an uptempo game off dishes from Baron, Dunleavy, etc.. And how much higher of a FG% would you need to ask for, from Andris or Ike, compared to last season? But, yeah, I agree with you custodianrules2. The Dunleavy/Murphy experiment should be interesting. It's one thing to watch out for in preseason and also regular season.

Foyle just struggles at this and it just makes any kind of structured offense difficult when guys can't gain the respect of the guy guarding him. The sad thing is: when by some miracle, Foyle caught the ball, he would blow the wide open layup or dunk. It's baffling how bad he can be offensively and also when it comes to just making a simple catch. I mean people say Dunleavy is a problem, I think Foyle is a problem. Clumsy and not smart as a basketball player. We could have gotten somebody like Dasagana Diop or one of those NBDL centers with African last names like Akindele, N'Dong, or Boutumje boutumje for cheap and they could stand around blocking shots just as well as Foyle probably. I mean Foyle is a nice productive member of the community who doesn't play basketball most of the time, but when he does he's still pretty awful lately except for that one game against the Kings (when Adonal led the Warriors in scoring LOL and we beat the Kings). He's impeding the ability to clear up the salary situation that's for sure. BTW that Kings game was hilarious. How can the Kings let the Warriors beat them with Adonal Foyle? How can any of the Warriors let Adonal Foyle be first option offense. I guess if he's hot that night, he's hot. Of course you already know this, Clif. I'm just sayin'
I think the 15 ft J has become undervalued-there seems to be the sense that if it's not an in close---why not step back and get that extra bonus point. However-in reality you can bog down and get zero on 5 straight possessions. IF Dun + Murphy operate effectively in the 10-20 ft range-shooting and passing..Nellie's hunch might be a good one. I see Dunleavy-in a perfect world-making a quick relay pass to an inside finisher-like Ike or Biedrens, but in the proposed lineup-they are not starting. J Rich-Pietrus-even Murphy, cutting to the hoop and Dun gets a quick well timed pass to them? Yeah, could be nice. I think Murphy has more understanding of the game than he's had the chance to use. He uses timing and awareness to rebound-why not also to pass? Murphy in a high post may prove to be a good passer-while also a threat to hit the midrange J. If-as I figure-we force a fast tempo-there will be 8-12 guys used quite a bit most nights. If-as I assume-Nellie is aware and adaptable-there will be games where Ike or Andris-or Monta...and even others-are the main guys.
