Fisher has been contributing a lot more than Dunleavy this season however.

At this point, nobody will take Dunleavy and his 9 mils/5 years contract over Fisher with his 6 mils/5 years contract. How in the world Dunleavy is shooting more 3 pts then Fisher (3.7 to 3.0), when Fisher is shooting 52% and Dunleavy is shooting less than 20%?

Trading for Garnett is so risky because it means giving up a lot of players (veteran players that impact our team on a nightly basis). Also, if we give up any picks, we better hope for damn sure we have winning seasons for several seasons to come.

Garnett is an MVP player... but he proved last year that he can't do it alone without a good starting 5. That's why I'm hoping we at least keep Jrich if such a trade ever went down. I ain't putting much faith in Baron Davis being healthy for at least 70 games. If we lose Fisher, Pietrus is hurt, we better hope whoever is left can fill in the gaps like Ellis or Zarko or somebody.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting philsmith75:</div><div class="quote_post">Fisher----5 years----$30M. Brutal. And you guys are sweating Dunleavy's $44m. At least Dunleavy's young with some upside still to come. Fisher is topped out already.</div>
Well Fisher does have intangibles, plenty of balls to perform under pressure, good leadership and he's playing his best ball this season. He's also playing within the system rather than outside of it. (notice him driving more and distributing). On a team with few veterans that have seen playoff experience, I welcome him for now.

With Dunleavy, that 44 mil will have to be based on potential, because based on what he's done so far he hasn't done jack. Let's hope he is a late bloomer or he could be a crappier version of Austin Croshere and his contract and we know Larry Bird couldn't trade him period. Plus the next 5 years listening to Barnett on Dunleavy, will be nauseating.

Admittedly, Fisher is playing much better this year than last year. Probably because Baron laid down some law. And I'm happy about that. Fisher's probably best suited to be a 25 min guy who hits some shots, definitely not a 40 min starting PG. And yes he does play some great D.

Monty probably also laid down some law. Baron and Monty are basically forced to be partners here like an NFL coach and his star QB.

I think we'll definitely need Fisher in the playoffs. I wonder who will be the first of the starting 5 to feel the pressure in the post season? After all, none of our guys have been there except for guys we've traded for or acquired as a free agent. I wouldn't be suprised if Jason Richardson or Troy Murphy started struggling if we got there. Lots of emotion, all that hard work, and this is it. People are going to remember what you do and how your perform.

Pietrus and Murphy's value are extremely high right now. Any team would gladly swallow fisher's contract if you put the two of them together. BTW, Foyle with Garnett next to him would be defensive player of the year. His blocked shot numbers would skyrocket. I'm not a cap guy so someone would have to tell me what would have to be tweaked to make it work, but I'm pretty sure that is close to enough.
