Not sure what you expect to get for Nurk, CJ and RoCo. Two expirings and a very bad contract. You definitely not getting an All Star. Well in fact I included one, Sabonis!

Indy is basically the East's Portland. If you really hate Nurk and RoCo, better just to let them expire than acquire somebody else's dead weight.

I think the team that wants RoCo (and I bet there are a fair number - he's a defensive savant when used right) is not the same that wants CJ.

    Also trading Nurk is dumb.

In that trade i didn't include anybody else's dead weight though. I included an All Star + 2 decent role players that are good defenders which this team is lacking. Btw they are both expiring.

Not considering trading Nurkic is dumb. He is not a difference maker so he should certainly be on the table. And with what he has said so far we risk losing him for free.

Now I look more closely at your trade, it is a pretty interesting one. But I tend to think that larger trades are exponentially more unlikely. Indy might talk itself into (essentially) Sabonis for RoCo and CJ (basically siding with Turner in the battle of the "which center do we keep"), and indeed, might be a better and more balanced team as a result. But that's factoring out hometown loyalty, which, for small market teams, is huge. Sabonis is probably a bit of a cult hero in Indy, especially as he's really worked to improve and hasn't left them in the lurch.

Meanwhile, yes we get Sabonis, but he's a step down defensively from Nurk, and we're already 30th in the league defensively! Plus we give up THREE starters for one, and Sabonis ain't that good (otherwise the Pacers would be better).

    Hmm...

Hawks currently on a roll, which is good: they might convince themselves they're contenders who just need one more piece... Or, if we're dreaming, two more pieces:

I would kiss the feet of our new GM if he could pull that one off.

Or, if Atlanta want to keep Gallinari because he's actually an important part of their rotation, and we're prepared to just eat a bunch of salary by waiving a ton of people:

Here’s a text that Quick received from CJ after he interviewed him last night:

“Oregon is home,” McCollum wrote. “Always will be. I got married here. My son will be born here. We bought 318 acres here and started planting our vineyard here. This city and organization have been very good to me and my family. We’re forever grateful.”

    That sounds interesting.

Ben Simmons was one of several defensively minded wing players who Lillard has expressed interest in playing with since the 2020 offseason, along with Jaylen Brown and Aaron Gordon, sources said."

Sounds like every other time McCollum has talked about trade rumors.

    Jake fischer's new article

he hosts a call from 1-2 pacific on tuesdays/thursdays on this app. there's usually only like 15 people or so on it and ive gotten my questions answered every time. definitely a can't miss in my mind because of how plugged in he is and how candid he is on that call.

I think if we are committed to making the team better and not rebuild then we should check with the Pacers

That sounds like picks and or young players. Problem with any of those guys is you need to send salary along with. Indiana is not going to value our guys with big salaries so that means trading multiple rotation players or young guys for players that may not even be upgrades.
