Pacers are blazers East. Lots of good players but just past their expiration date as a team. Even share the same front office execs. Pacers not lucky enough to have been gifted a superstar 8 years ago though.

Given that Nurk and Roco are expiring, I wonder what we could get by attaching Little or Simons and picks to them.

At least Nurk and RoCo are expirings so it's a way to free up salary for the Pacers. Of course we should also include picks and Ant or Little for those guys.

if Indy wants to rebuild then I don’t think they’d want CJ.

As someone who watched that team up close and personal for nine years, I can tell you the pacers have always resisted complete teardowns. Fan interest wanes in Indy for the Pacers as is, and their ownership has always tried to maintain a playoff product even when the obvious move was to rebuild. I don't think they simply give away talent for picks, especially when the broke bank this summer in getting Carlisle.

edit, OK, i just read the actual article: I stand corrected.

In the past, team president Kevin Pritchard has tried to convince owner Herb Simon a rebuild is necessary, including in 2017, but Simon demurred. Instead, the Pacers signed Darren Collison, Bojan Bogdanovic and made a trade for veteran Cory Joseph.

Simon, the longest-tenured owner in the league, has always demanded the Pacers put the best possible product on the floor, even if that means being a seventh or eighth seed and losing in the first round of the playoffs. The concern is, a protracted rebuild will mean an even greater decline in attendance. But look at their attendance now, which stands dead last in the league at 13,135 and 29th in terms of percentage of capacity. So the question is: How much worse can it get?

Now, according to sources, Simon, who is 87 years old, has gotten onboard with the idea of a rebuild.

I have a hard time finding any matches between what Indy would want in a rebuild and what Portland has

I'd love for the Blazers to be able to land Myles Turner though.

hoopshype mentions a possible three way scenario where Portland ends up with Jerami Grant

Yes that was my point. Call me crazy, but I don't think trading any combination of Nurk with Simons/Little for any of Indy's players is really much of an upgrade. Is Nurk + Little/Simons (plus some additional draft capital probably) > Turner or Sabonis? None of those guys are good enough to change the direction of our team, even if they are theoretically better. RoCo is a different story, but hard to construct a deal around Sabonis or Turner if you're keeping Nurkic.

LeVert sucks. If you thought CJ dribbled the air out of the ball and took poor shots....

Turner is an ideal fit, but unless we also trade CJ for Ben Simmons or something I don't think it makes us much better than where we are at.

Send picks to Pacers along with Nurk and Roco's expiring contracts. Philly gets a hell of a return for Simmons, plus with Sabonis they can afford to look to trade Harris for a a couple of cheaper contracts to solidify the bench. We get immediately better defensively with Dame, Powell, Little, Simmons, Turner starting lineup.

That is awful for Indiana unless they're getting 4 unprotected firsts from us or something.

Yeah, def load as many picks as they ask. Woj is suggesting they are going full rebuild, so expiring contracts and picks is all they will want.

We can send them expirings: Nurk and Roco plus Simons, Little and Brown (or substitute draft picks, their preference) for Sabonis, Warren (expiring and also not quite back yet from injury) and Bitadze (to defend against bigs). Then we still have CJ to trade for Simmons or somebody.

Very ingenious. I think these are the two clubs we should be working with, NY and Indy.

Probably more likely to happen(tho I suspect nothing will be done at all)
