<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WadeDynasty:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah so why exactly are you saying he shouldn't be in NBA?</div>

You missed the part where I said he had no game whatsoever right? To get into the NBA, you obviously need to have a game that can compete in the NBA and Kyle Korver doesn't have that. Without his shooting skills, his only skill, this guy is nothing. Kyle "Aschun Kutcher" Korver is a perfect example of a fraudulent NBA player. Now any great shooter can get into the NBA if Korver got into the NBA. [IMG] There's no way that you can be good enough for the NBA if you are only good at shooting. If there's something special about him other than shooting that appealed to the scouts that got him into the NBA, then I don't see it whatsoever. Perhaps they were drinking A Marca Bavaria when they considered Korver, who knows.

Well how many 6'7 guys do you know that can come in the game for under 12 minutes and hit 39% of his 3pters? If you've played basketball before, you'd know it's not an easy thing to do. Especially in the NBA where people KNOW you're a 3pt specialist and you still make your shots. On top of that, Korver actually plays decent D from what I've heard.

Overall, I see Korver as a young Pike. He can turn out to be a solid role player if given the minutes. There are many, many players who don't deserve to be in the L and Korver sure ain't one.

By the way, on your comment about "There's no way that you can be good enough for the NBA if you are only good at shooting", what do you think Reggie Miller did? I'm not saying Korver is the next Reggie, but you see what I'm saying? That's all they do, shoot 3s.

Come on now. Please dont use Reggie Miller as an example because his game expands far more than Korver's.

There's really no way you can judge Korver's game by watching his play in limited playing time. And besides, he's only a rookie. There are plenty of rooks who have NO skills, whatsoever. At least Korver can hit a jumper. Give him another year or so and maybe 20 minutes a game to prove himself.

Darko, on the other hand, showed absolutely NOTHING last year. His ass should be gone. [IMG]

Also, if you give Reggie 11 minutes a game, I guarantee you he isn't going to do crap except hit a few jump shots here and there.

    Yeah?????

How about producing more for his team not only by making more buckets than Korver can ever make, but showing leadership. Again, I don't know why you're comparing a scrubby rookie to a future hall of famer.

In 11 minutes, how many buckets will Reggie sink? And his leadership (whatever that means) won't be worth a damn in garbage time, which is all that Kover got last year.

As much as I am disgusted by one-dimensional players, Kyle Korver is NOT a one deminsional player. He was only allowed clean-up minutes (A.K.A. "scrub" minutes) in his rookie year and not only did he hit an incredible 39% from the arc as a rook, he also helped provide a much needed spark off of the 76er's bench...

    MPG: 11.9
    FG%: .352
    3Pt FG%: .391 --Led NBA in 3 Pt FGs per 48 minutes
    RPG: 1.5
    APG: .5
    SPG: .34
    BPG: .11

Come on guys, if you're a coach/GM of a team and you've got a rookie coming off the bench that can put those numbers up in limited time AND serve as a spark to get your team back into a game, you wouldn't be happy? Hell, I'd be enthralled at the fact that given a few years this guy could be a main part of the team's system.

there are tons of guys who are just athletic and nothing more...i.e. Gerald Wallace, who can leap and is a great dunker, but has a lot to learn as far as shooting and defense...most of the NBA consists of one-dimensional players...Ben Wallace is a defensive specialist...Ray Allen is a gunner...Kidd is a passer...especially in a league where pure shooting is a dying breed, Korver is a fresh sight...Korver also makes an effort on defense and knows his role, which was important as a rookie...

Give me a break. You are expecting a rookie player with limited minutes to actually show "leadership"? Especially when the team belongs to another superstar? Come on just say it was a mistake & lack of knowledge of bball to put Korver in your list. That's all. Noone's gonna blame you.

No, it isn't a mistake and a lack of knowledge. Who do you think you are? Did you see me put Olowokandi and Milicic too?

I don't agree with you on Newble, Sampson and Ruffin. Newble is a very good perimeter and defender and has a decent offensive game, for that he should be in the league. Ruffin can be a beast on the board given consistant minutes so I think he should be in the league. Jamal Sampson can grab boards and has a decent offensive game too, and still is improving so i'll keep him in the league for now. Doleac isn't that bad either, he has a decent mid range shot, can bang around inside, grab a few boards here and there, isn't worth the money he gets paid, but he's still servicable in the NBA.

You are using Reggie as an example if he was in Korver's role, which is comparing. Learn the term "compare" before going around and telling people they can't read.

You're about to go on my ignore list because you're annoying the heck out of me, whether you care or not.

BTW it wasn't me who "compared" to Reggie. I'm a big Reggie fan and I wouldn't compare a rookie to him. Now again, READ

Jerome James (Big Lazy), Calvin Booth (One lucky game winner= 6 mil [IMG] ) Peja Drobnjak(just little to slow, just a little to fat, and played little D). Huh I guess all but one of the sonics centers over the past two years should be in the league (potapenko), but even he sucks.

and Korver definately deserves to be in the L, he can do much more than just shoot the ball.

Chungster, how about you answer durvasa?

By the way, I was the one that supposedly compared Reggie to Korver... Even though I clearly said that "Korver isn't gonna be the next Reggie". I was just using Reggie as an example that pure shooters that don't do much of anything else can make it AND be successful in the league. In fact, you should be more worried about the influx of worthless athletic players or big bodied players with NO skills whatsoever instead of attacking pure shooters (which is an extremely rare breed) such as Kyle.

For your convenience, let me show you a stat comparison of Reggie vs. Korver in their rookie years.

    Reggie:
    22.4 MPG
    35.5% 3ptFG
    80.1% FT
    2.3 RPG
    1.6 APG
    10 PPG

    Kyle:
    11.9 MPG
    39.9% 3ptFG
    79.2% FT
    1.5 RPG
    0.5 APG
    4.5 PPG

What do you know, Reggie produced basically double of what Kyle did in his rookie year only because he's getting double the minutes that Kyle had. To me, this isn't that shabby at all for a bench "scrubby rookie". He definitely deserves to be in the league.
