I don't think anyone should have stayed in school when they're now in the NBA making millions and putting up numbers. Even guys like Gerald Green and Ndudi Ebi got several million from their NBA contracts, which they could have not gotten had they gone to college and gotten injured. A guy like Josh Smith especially was very smart in coming out early. He cashed in on his potential back then and being thrust into immediate minutes with Atlanta definitely made him mature as a basketball player faster than he ever could have in college. Let's say he came out this year as a senior; would you expect him to put up 18/9 in his "rookie" season?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (pegs @ Jun 29 2008, 09:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>You saw how shook he was in the playoffs, bricking free throws.</div> You seriously think that going to college prepares players for pressure in the NBA, better than the NBA does? As for KG he's never been a great free throw shooter, but to say that he can't play under pressure is not true. I have seen him play many times in person, and when the team is down he will put them on his back and take over over down the stretch. Besides, KG has been in the league many years now and is accustomed to the pressure, so how would four year of college changed that? The only time that you can say that a player should have gone to college is about young guys, or guys who are not very good. You can't say that vets like Kobe and KG should have stayed in school, because at this point in their careers they have already received more by playing in the NBA than college could have given them.
I think College puts a greater emphasis on learning defense than most NBA teams, is more disciplined, and tends to demands more team-focus than 1 star player focus.
