<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Until now, that is. With Vince Carter likely to opt out of his contract this summer, and Bobcats in desperate need of a scorer, Charlotte should be a likely destination. Factor in his affinity for the state of North Carolina and the franchise's ample cap space, and this might as well be a done deal. There's one problem, though: bad blood between Jordan and Vince. From Rick Bonnell's Inside the NBA: Vince Carter was pretty chilly Saturday night, when I asked him how he'd react if Michael Jordan recruits him in free agency this summer. "I doubt that he would," Carter replied, and you could almost see his breath for the frigid tone. In case you've forgotten, once upon a time Jordan criticized Carter's lack of defense. MJ is notoriously frank, and Vince incredibly sensitive. With Bonnell claiming that "it was clear from his remark Saturday that Carter is still wounded by Jordan's shot,"</div> Will Jordan Scare Off Vince Carter?
vc is vc...he is an underachiever but a very good player...he is 30 and he isn't going to change...if he is a franchise player we would have to pay him $20M...but he is only getting $11M...just a little over kwame brown, who is averaging 5 ppg...i would rather have vc for $11M than paul pierce for $20M.

This should make this an expansion team in Las Vegas, and call them "The Las Vegas Coaching Hell".
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Chutney @ Jan 17 2008, 06:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I always thought this was fairly obvious. Carter has all the talent in the world, but has been unable to be a franchise player.</div> early in his career he was definately a franchise player. I think his last 2 years in toronto and these last 2 years in jersey have been his worst seasons since it appears the teams are moving away from going to him. I'm a nets fan first but i strongly agree with maxamillion on this one, if vince plays well then the nets win. I love RJ but he's a a terrific secondary or tertiary star, to date he has never led any team to success as the primary star. this year RJ has been the primary star/score and it hasn't worked out that well. RJ just can't score with enough variety to be THE GUY. I don't see much difference between him and corey maggette, RJ is better in transition but corey is more physical and a better rebounder. Would anyone want maggette to be the primary star? Of course not. THe team needs to get back to vince being the primary scorer and RJ being the secondary scorer. Vince has to be blamed as well, he needs to realize that he can be kobe's equal and just go for it. however, he's been in the league 10 years and early on he seemed to figure it out but I wonder if he even wants to be kobe's equal anymore. He's one of my favorite players but it's maddening how he doesn't seem to have the will to be the best.
here is the problem i am seeing. you guys seem to think that vince wants to be kobes equal. when has he ever said this? even back in 2000 and 2001, kobe was better because kobe was a different player. kobe has that arrogance and that cockiness. vince has never had that and never will so the problem is you guys keep comparing him to kobe. when vince is plays well and he is the main offense guy, the nets usually win or have a chance to win. the reason for all the hate lately is that vince is the #2 and #3 option. that just cant happen. vince is not gonna complain either, he just wants whats best for the team. when he goes back to being #1, I have a feeling the hate will go away.

wow just wow. It's different when fans writers or tv reporters say this but damn his own peers feel this way. Time to take a long look in the mirror.
i know its tough to read, BasX, but just try, i think you can do it I for one am not surprised because vince is not being utilized on this team. of course you can say its his fault, but the team as a whole should be to blame too. did you see PHX@LAL last night? kobe was not involved in the offense at all and as a result, the team got blown out. when your best offense player is not being involved, your team suffers. simple as that. far too often this season, vince is not getting into the game. until the nets realize, "okay, we have a guy on our team who all the years before is a 25, 6, and 5 player, and we need to use him" they will keep losing.

However, Vince noticeably plays harder against Kobe and TMac. these are guys that play his position, are a similar age and were once considered the cream of the crop of the SGs in the league. I'm assuming based on the fact that he acknowledges there's a rivalry between him and these guys that he'd want to be better than his rivals. If not then what's the point of the rivalry? There was an interview earlier on nba.com where he goes through his NBA journey in a series of slides and he acknowledges these rivalries.
