Outside of the real late goal that tied it, this game was very similar to our game 2. Road team up 1-0 in series in control into the 3rd. The very desperate home team facing a daunting 0-2 hole going on the road plays an inspired 3rd and gets the game to OT. Just like with Montreal last night, I would expect Ottawa to win in OT with all the momentum, double so starting OT with 1:50 or so on the PP. But as always it only takes one play in hockey OT, so it is a tossup. I can tell you I am rooting hard for Ottawa. GO SENS GO.
Big win for Ottawa just after PP ends (and they hit 2 posts on the PP). Happy they came back. Puts some perspective on our L last night. Desperate teams at home in the playoffs, don't sell them short. Hopefully that will be a long series now just like I expect ours to be so no team has an edge in round 2. Don't underestimate momentum in OT. Both Montreal and Ottawa rode it to wins (the Wild did not in game 1 so it goes both ways I guess).
I kind of feel bad for CBJ having to draw the Pens in round 1 (ridiculous NHL playoff system). Will be a very interesting series in round 2 between the Pens and Caps. If the Caps don't get through the 2nd round this season they may never do it with OV.
The craps may not even make it to the second round. Both games went to OT. They are still enjoying their yet another regular season trophy.
Have to give the Leafs credit. Series tied 1-1, and the Leafs have played toe to toe with the Caps, that is great to see. That team could be real dangerous in the next year or two. Have to figure the Caps right the ship, although most expected that in game 2, and win the series, but good for the Leafs. Some big games today. Do the Wild get back in it or are they done and continue their late season collapse. Does CBJ have any life left to hand the Pens an L. The Oilers and Sharks continue their fun series (go Oilers). And of course we wonder can the Rangers break their awful home playoff run and win at MSG. Good day of hockey.
Screw the oilers. Another team that tanked on purpose for years so they can get franchise players year after year. Can't wait until McDavid will ask for billions of dollars in a few years. Will see if they can afford all these guys.
Hawks-Preds series is a real head scratcher. Leafs are team on the rise. Blues-Wild series is no surprise to me. Bruins-Sens will go the distance. West coast teams should win their series. Blue Jackets need to beat the all-of-sudden unbeatable Pens.
Ovechkin showed some age for the first time in his career. I definitely think if they lose in round 1 or 2, there is a good chance with the right offer that they trade him. The team no longer seems to be all about him.
I would be shocked if they trade ovechkin. $9,538,462 cap hit for another 4 years. I am not sure if it would be that easy to trade him but who knows.
Many are real critical of AV in here, imagine if Boudreau was our coach. That dude has had tons of regular season success as a head coach, but only once made the CF. Awful in the playoffs, and now the Wild, who were a top team all season, are getting rolled by the Blues down 0-3. I will not count the Hawks out, but how crazy would it be if the 2nd round in the Central was Preds/Blues. Crazy stuff...NHL playoffs so unpredictable.
Had to figure the BJ's would show up big at home tonight. If not their whole season would have been a waste. We'll see if they can keep it up.
Yeah, the Pens are great, but waste of a season for CBJ getting rolled round 1. Got jobbed by crazy playoff seeding in NHL, but not a good look for them getting rolled. And I don't trust Bob as far as I can throw him no matter how he plays in the regular season.
