I wasn't watching the Fla Bos game on tv but was following it on my phone and couldn't believe all the goals in the 3rd period. Crazy. Stars in good position to finish off the Wild up 3-0 in the 3rd. Seattle scored the first goal in all 6 games so far in their series against the Avalanche...unreal. colorado is so damn good though, fast, physical and skilled. I can't stay up to watch the end though...its too late.
Two game 7's set - Kraken at Avs and Panthers at Bruins. 3 more opportunities for game 7's tonight - will we get any? I would think we'd get at least 1, but we'll see. Leafs at TB NJD at NYR Oilers at Kings
Want to talk about epic fails...the Boston bruins... The avs, defending champs, going to 7 games against a second year expansion team... Just wow
We'll see about that - if they lose game 7 yes all time epic fail for the Bruins. If they win game 7, they move on and fight another day. Disagree on the Avs, last I checked they won the cup last season, they get a total pass on whatever happens this season IMO. Us and the Bruins under a lot of pressure. Bruins have their game 7, will we get one also - not sure, but I hope so.
Didn't the Bruins break the single season win total? They are having to play a game 7, that is an epic fail even if they end up winning. They lost only 12 games this year...yet..the 8th seed has beaten them 3 times already..epic fail
We disagree on that. These are the NHL playoffs, this is how it goes. If they win game 7 and go on to win the cup no one will care. If they lose it will be an epic fail. I cannot call it an epic fail for them if they won round 1 in 7 games instead of 5 or 6. If the Rangers come back and win 6 and 7, it will not be an epic fail either. If they lose 6 or 7, it will be. That's how this works. The bigger issue from a Rangers fan POV, is since they never do anything easy they get worn down early by always going 7 games, and that costs them later in the playoffs. That is a year after year thing, not one playoff run. It may cost the Bruins this year also if they survive, but until then if they win, no way is winning in more games, but winning, an epic fail. If they win game 7, and lose in round 2, their playoffs are an epic fail overall. But that statement cannot come into play until they are eliminated IMO. With the regular season they had the Bruins are pretty much win the SC Cup or bust - maybe if they make the SCF and lose that is okay, but anything less and it is a huge fail given their season.
Kings are doing their best to hang with the Oilers in game 6. 3-2 in the 2nd and about to go on the PP. Oilers are a sloppy defensive team with average goaltending. They basically need to score 5 or 6 goals every game to win...and as I type...the Kings tie it up!
With the Oilers win, I'm 5-0 so far - with two series exact # of games - with 3 game 7's pending. Nailed Leafs and Stars each in 6. We'll see what the game 7's bring. I expect the Bruins and Avs to find a way to win their games, and I have zero clue who wins our game 7 - total coin flip unknown to me.
4 - 1 here (I picked the Islanders over the Canes) and of the 4 correct winners I got 3 correct on number of games as well (had the Stars in 5 over the Wild).
Not a fan of the Bruins going to Swayman in game 7. I understand he was sort of 1A all season, but he hasn't played in weeks, and you bench your Vezina winning goalie for him in game 7, tough spot. Let in a soft first goal. And while Ullmark has not played well, I would have stuck with him. The pressure on Boston down 1-0 after the first, is through the roof. If they lose it is one of the biggest upsets in hockey history given the Bruins regular season. I didn't think Boston would win the cup, but no way did I think they'd lose in round 1.
Starting Swayman is a move that reeks of desperation and panic. Bad move by the coach. That Bruins team is solid top to bottom. Losing in the first round would be massive fail.
Do any of these record-breaking teams ever win the SC? I remember somewhere in the 90s the Red Wings had a season where they won 60+ games (before OT wins) and they lost in the Conf Finals. Few years ago TB also had 60+ wins and lost in 1st round. It's almost like it's a curse to win that many games.
Florida is amazingly 20 minutes away from the major upset. Long way to go but I can't imagine what the Bruins are thinking here.
The Pres trophy winner hasn't won the cup since the Hawks in 2013 I believe. One more period to go, and Boston starts the 3rd on the PP. Still a long way to go for Boston. If the Bruins lose, the Leafs are in a great spot. From the start I liked the Leafs to make the ECF at least anyway, I felt this way their year, but if Boston goes down that is a huge plus for Toronto.
Surprising state of the game after 2 periods. Plenty of time for a team like Boston to put up 3+ goals though. Plenty.
