Game Thread PLAYOFFS: ROUND 2, GAME 4: NUGGETS @ BLAZERS - MAY 5, 2019 - SUNDAY, 4:00 PM, TNT

Feeling a bit more rational about this after a good night of sleep, but my biggest take is back to what I was saying about trying to endure in the playoffs with a small guard as your best player. It's just impossible. Dame put up 28 on decent efficiency and it still isn't enough because he needs to be superhuman for us to win. The ones who seem to have success in the playoffs are physically imposing freaks (KD/Kawhi/Giannis/Embiid/Jokic/etc). Comparing him to Murray is apples to oranges. Their ENTIRE defense is centered around making things difficult for Dame, while we keep letting Jamal go one on one (maybe we shouldn't).

Dame has had a few of those superhuman efforts already in the playoffs, but Tuesday will only be his 10th game. We desperately need at least one more to win this series.

Also "Lillard and Company" seems to be a bit out of touch also. I'm sure one of your previous monikers could be quoted that Lillard only beat the Clippers because they had injuries to Paul and Griffin.
And of course .09 happened with a completely different team.
Even you might agree this team is not the same team.

I wonder what would happen if we put Jokic in Dame\CJ pick and rolls EVERY TIME.
Can Tub Of Lard actually play 1 on 1 defense against any of those guys? is he in shape to defend guards for 48 minutes? i'm pretty sure he's not as athletic as Anthony Davis.

It has it's time and place. Also, I'm a fan of Bill Burr who says it A LOT.

 

Except if Dame just makes 1 out of the 4 3's he got good looks on in the 3rd quarter we're likely talking about a 3-1 lead. Would you still have the same narrative then?

Plus if we had a healthy Nurk there's no way Jokic would be this dominate.

It speaks to my point that he's missing though. He's getting worn out-- to no fault of his own. When was the last time Dame missed 3 FTs in a game?

If we had Nurk, it would obviously take a ton of pressure off. There's a reason why Curry won in 15, and it wasn't just because of his own play. His teammates had a lot to do with it. Dame is on that level, but even Curry would struggle to win a 2nd or 3rd round series on his own.

 

A team doesn't get the #2 seed after 82 games by luck. There are no bad or mediocre teams playing.

 

The team isn't SNIFFING the playoffs (obviously) without Damian. They don't have a shot in hell at winning the first round without Damian. Dude 'isn't himself' for a couple games and people are complaining. He has gotten to the point, in my opinion, that he is virtually exempt from criticism unless its really, truly warranted and blatant.

The hardest thing about winning a championship is not only having the right talent (not missing your 2nd best player), but how freaking hard it is physically to play 82 games...then go play an entire playoffs vs 1) good teams 2) who are playing at their best. Physically this is taxing unlike anything any of these guys have done before. Throw in a missing big man, and a backup with one arm, and the fact that this is 2-2 is a huge feat. Perspective, people.

This game came down to shots coming up short in the 4th and Will Barton making back to back 3s to take the lead and keep it...Barton had been bricking jumpers all series....he got hot when it counted...shoutout to Will. At that point in the game I'd have wanted him shooting...he made us pay.

 

Are we gonna ignore the fact that this guy just said the Nuggets of all team don't have a real home court advantage ?
