I voted Kirk out of the options.

My dream scenario is Rubio or Sessions (I think both are obtainable you just have to lay it on the line for them).

I must admit I'm bummed about the Hedo thing just doesn't feel right. Anyone think it's a smokescreen?

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Last season it wasn't, but outside of his first few seasons, his three point shooting has been a major strength of his. I think his passing skills are a bit overrated...he's a nice passer for a non-point guard but he's not a true "point forward."

I think his "strength" (such as it is, as he's not all that great a player) is his all-around ability. He can pass a bit, shoot a bit, drive a bit, rebound a little. I don't think a true point guard robs him of that. Having passing all over the court is a positive thing, and having a player who the defense can't play any single way is a positive thing.

I don't think Turkoglu gives Portland its "de facto" point guard or that having a proper distributing point guard detracts from having Turkoglu. Turk is a solid, all-around contributing role-player who has recently, and incorrectly, been hyped up as an impact play-maker.

I prefer Bayless on the 2nd unit, where we will need his scoring more and his ability to penetrate and draw fouls (that's Roy's job on the starting unit). With the addition of Hedo, I really want a starting PG who can knock down an open 3 (and play defense). So, Hinrich is my first choice as a complimentary player to our other 4 starters. I'll explain in more detail in another thread.

It's close for me, but one factor I am taking into account is the likelihood of getting the player. Bayless is easiest to get since Portland already has him. With Gordon leaving Chicago it sure seems like he would be harder to obtain.

He's averaged 5 APG over the last two seasons - and he did a great job running the pick-and-roll with Dwight Howard. I want the ball in his hands do he can do the same thing with Greg Oden. To not take advantage of this ability would make both Hedo AND Oden less effective.

    Miller, without hesitation.

I really don't get the Hinrich love. We already have 3-pt shooters better than Capt Quirk. His playmaking ability is just adequate. His defense - sorry to say - is over-rated. Playing alongside Rose or Gordon (which is most of the time) he guards the SG. He may be good at that - but that and $4 will get you a tall latte. We need someone to guard PGs, and that is Miller. Hinrich might be an upgrade over Blake...but that is a rather low bar to clear.

As for Hedo's playmaking ability, he might work well with Oden, but Miller will work well with *all* our players.

Rudy votes for Rudy, apparently. Do you think we could run him at the point?

Depends on who the coach is.

Nate doesn't seem to have a good grasp on how to coach defense. If he were able to design a defensive scheme that was all about funneling players instead of stopping them it could work fine.
