Well Gerald Wallace > Josh Childress or Ramon Sessions And we would have our MLE to sign back assets this offseason. Now we will not have a MLE to use.
thank you for the smart post. Every year there are tons of rumors at the deadline and very few deals, and only a modest percentage of the deals that are completed are first rumored. Yet also every year the same posters seem to go for the bait believing the rumors to be signs of whats likely to happen. Some of these same posters are now questioning Portland's management. I'd like to point out that the club has increased their win totals by about 10 games each of the last two seasons and are on pace to do it again. Is that management's fault too? STOMP
Here are two conclusions that are open to you: 1) "Look at what KP could have done but didn't! He's an idiot!" 2) "I know a good deal less about the situation than Pritchard, so if it appears to me that this was a colossal mistake, I'm probably missing something." One of them is more justified than the other. That's not the one you're choosing.
To me it sounds like you're trying very hard to convince yourself that Portland did the right thing. What we do know is we had a huge trade asset (that was getting better offers than Amare Stoudamire!) and didn't do a damn thing with it.
Well I don't have to prove the worth of RLEC when KP called it "The Golden Ticket" two weeks ago. Also, Roy is not our best trade asset because he comes too cheap to trade one for one with a proven star. He would be the best steal another team could get, for sure. I think you missed the point of what I said. I said that a great gm can get a deal done. Ours hasn't been able to in the past 3 years outside the draft, and didn't this year. Considering how valuable KP himself found RLEC and his inability to manufacture anything from it, I see no reason to believe he will somehow magically be able to get more with less this summer. This not about "We could have got player X but didn't". It's about "Our team has serious holes and our gm didn't do a god damn thing about it when he had by his own admission the best trade asset he had ever had.".
This poll indicates that it is a small but vocal minority that is upset at KP/Paul Allen. That's encouraging.
No one converted an expiring deal into anything impressive, really. Perhaps that "huge trade asset" wasn't so huge. Very few people really believed RLEC was drawing better offers than Amare. Hyperbole is fun, but not informative.
Yes, this is all in fact an internal dialogue. I don't even realize that other people can see it. I will say this slowly and clearly: no...we....don't. I love how you cite the "better offers than Amare Stoudamire" line like it was fact. Find me the source for that quote. To save you the trouble it was: a Chad Ford quote of an anonymous GM SPECULATING about what was being offered for each, when in fact he was the GM of neither Phoenix nor Portland. Woo-hoo! Gospel!
And now you do. Besides: it's only a Golden Ticket if it gets you something. What do you KNOW that it would've gotten? Why doesn't the draft count? And what GM did get a great deal done this deadline, to prove that good deals were out there? Which of the amazing blockbuster deals that went down proves that GM to be a genius? All of them, just because they actually traded? I presume you think that the Cleveland GM is even more of an ass because (1) they're more desperate to trade, because their window is NOW and they've got to convince LeBron to stay, and (2) their expiring deal was larger than RLEC, and (3) they'll still be over the cap when it expires, so it has effectively become worthless. Makes you wonder why THEY didn't get Wallace/Carter/whomever people are convinced was just out there for the taking. Clearly you have sealed yourself in a world where everything you currently believe is gospel truth. I will give up trying to reach you in that world.
Certainly disappointed we didn't a.) use Raef's contract b.) get rid of Sergio c.) consolidate for a veteran talent, but I am excited for us to make the playoffs and hopefully convince the moderators to ban the dumbasses who overreact to every loss and claim we'll miss the playoffs this year because we didn't make a trade. That will be fun. I love that Bayless, Batum, Oden, Aldridge, and Roy didn't go anywhere. That could hopefully be a future starting lineup for a championship winning team.
overreacting isn't against the stated site rules, so I'm not sure what grounds they might be suspended under... not going to happen STOMP
Congratulations Mr. Pritchard, you can add another notch to that belt..... You've now even Pritch-slapped yourself.
