What do you think should be legal regarding firearm ownership?

  1. No limitations on purchasing firearms

  2. All firearms allowed except military-only weapons (automatic weapons, explosives, etc)

  3. Military-only weapons and large magazines (say, greater than 12) prohibited

  4. Automatic weapons and all semi-automatic rifles (eg, AR-15) prohibited (semi-auto handguns OK)

  5. All automatic and semi-automatic firearms prohibited

  6. Auto, semi-auto, and handguns prohibited (only manually rechambered rifles/shotguns allowed)

  7. All firearms outlawed except for military, police, and authorized armed security only

  8. Firearms for military only

    I think there's a difference between hateful or insulting racist speech (which would definitely be a rules violation) and comments that expose a poster's racist mindset (which, while troubling, is probably not a violation).

    However, it's possible that I'm parsing too much, and @Denny Crane or @SlyPokerDog could weigh in with a more authoritative response.

    @dviss1 you kinda go from idling to 120 mph in an instant. Instead of assuming the worst of what someone posts try to take a couple of minutes and explain why that is offensive to you. I know all of the staff cares about this community first and foremost, and none of them want to see this forum as a place that encourages racism. To be perfectly honest with you I try to keep an eye out for things that could be racist and hurtful. It's a rapidly changing world, it's hard to keep up with what's racist and what isn't. Just last month in the Caption Contest I posted a lyric from a Jay Z song, in got back to me that instead of talking to me publicly or privately you went to a 3rd party and accused me of being racist. That hurt and confused me. It was never my intention to be offensive to you or anyone else and has soon as it was brought to my attention I deleted the post. It's hard, I grew up in NE Portland, what some would label as black culture I view as a culture that I'm comfortable with and part of in many ways. I liked the movie Boys in the Hood, I read that reference in a post in this thread and it being racist sailed right over my head. To assume that it was made as an insult to you seems like a pretty big leap. That's not saying that it isn't offensive to you. But if it is explain why.

    @Cippy91 holy shit you fly off the handle sometimes. Man, you gotta mellow. You paint these grand statements of liberal this and that. Mellow out man. I don't think you intend to insult someone but if someone says something is offending them why argue with it? If I say something that offends you then say something and I will walk it back and apologize. It's not that hard.

    And yes, I'm calling all of you out because this community doesn't need more rules. It needs just a bit more civility, understanding, and respect. For the most part we're friends, I think most of us have met in person. (With the exception of @Cippy91 but hopefully that will change soon.)

    I insulted him a couple times on one day. That was on me. Mostly because it was on mental illness and despite my personal story, he just refused to listen and that shit actually got me heated. But yeah that ones on me. What’s your point?
