That is not a strawman. You're RAILING against single payer and that is a single payer plan. My question is valid. Should we throw our soldiers to the Insurance wolves that we've been thrown to? Yes or no. The government decides where they get healthcare. AND they don't have to be injured so WTF are you talking about? Answer the question.
Listen @magnifier661 and @dviss1 , I know you both personally and think you're both awesome! But you two both need to treat each other with just a little more respect when debating and arguing over politics. You both really seem to really enjoy arguing different sides of the same political coin, just imagine how boring it would be if you agreed on everything. Play nice.
Taht's the fucking point. Insurance companies are OBSOLETE. Thy don't provide healthcare, they take your money and pay for it? WTF for? Why have a private entity that is NOT bound by our constitution making decisions on what care they will cover? Not one person wants or needs insurance. What they need is healthcare. Insurance companies are an unnecessary middle man.
I would much rather the federal government use resources that give vouchers to the vets and do away with the entire VA in general. They treat them like shit anyway. I think that's very American
I didn't say you did, just pointing out that y0u two really enjoy arguing with each other even if you don't realize it.
But that's not how we do it. We have government doctors and government hospitals. Your version of communism is already alive and kicking. Capitalism has made it so 47MM people have no access to care. These people are driving up healthcare costs by going to emergency and urgent care for issues that could have been prevented. Why is this so hard to understand?
Not true. 82% of vets are satisfied with the VA. My father-in-law loves his care. He was never injured and never served in a war but he has healthcare at a government hospital by government doctors. Single payer has no bearing on who you go to for care. You can go to any doctor you want and you don't have to wait for a cartel to pay for it for you. YOU are paying for it. Edit: Oops meant for Mags.

But I wanted Mags to get the alert.
You don't need insurance.... You would have no insurance... you'd have actual healthcare with no denial of care. We don't need these companies unless they want to cover cosmetic surgery. Private insurance lives right alongside of Single payer in most of those countries anyway.
The VA does the best it can with what very little it is given. Does anyone remember when GW Bush (and the GOP) was gutting VA funding in 2002/2003 even as he was beating the drums for war? His actions created a much bigger caseload who are now fighting over a reduction in services. I definitely agree that veterans get treated like shit in general, especially those who did the actual fighting.
Wrong... The money is the root of evil, but either the individuals or government will decide. There are only 2 choices.
Mags, please do more research. You complain a lot about how much our country spends but when an awesome plan is put together that curtails LOTS of this spending and actually saves us money. Your resistance is not grounded in fact. http://www.pnhp.org/facts/single-payer-faq
Wrong! The VA deserves to be able to go to any hospital they choose, instead of shit holes that don't take care of them. Giving them vouchers (As good as money) to be seen by "top notch" hospitals and caregivers is extremely patriotic. I've seen how they treated my dad
Sigh.. access to care should not depend on how much money you have Mags. Right now we have a sick care system. Not a healthcare system. Everyone needs healthcare. From ages 0 to death. It is a common.
