<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The Punisher @ Aug 15 2006, 11:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I believe our offensive starters only played one series, sweetheart. And we CAN win the SB without Portis. The Coryell offense which Saunders brought in relies on such running plays that will make RBs look great (ex. Faulk, Holmes, Johnson -- who were they before Saunders?). The Coryell offense, all time-based, also requires a smart QB who can have a pro bowl season by just understanding the plays and the timing. This will take a month for Brunell to get used to, and about 2 months for Campbell to get used to. But it's not much different than Gibbs's playbook, it's the same old school language. We CAN win a lot of games without Portis, and we WILL win a lot of games without Portis. But I got bad news for the Cowboys fans... Portis WILL play in the season.</div>Punisher, You should be punish for say what you just said. What was Falk, Holmes, Johnson? It's obvious you don't know football at all. Faulk was already an establish running back. Johnson was a first round pick that could have been a started playing anywhere. Holmes is probably you're only point. Secondly, Coryell offense, required a good running game. And if I recall correctly when the Redskins did win Superbowls, the had a reliable running game. Those backs may not have been Portis BUT they were trustable and reliable. And enough with the Al Saunders crap. It's a very difficult scheme to learn and it takes WAY longer than a month or two (more like a year to completely understand it). And if that was the case, why then did they look so bad. I mean according to you, Brunell needs a month to get use to it. What were the OTA's and those 2 weeks of training camp for? Not to mention they practice against, and let Redskins fans tell it, the best defense in the league every since day! Stop making excuse! Except the fact that the offense is further down the road than what you thought. And with Portis being hurt it makes it more difficult. And come on Punisher, I'm really scared of Portis playing, even though he rushed for 164 yards in both games. So I guess you should be scared of Jones considering he rushed for 160 yards. But I guess coming up 4 yards shorter than Portis doesn't warranted for any kind of fear. So therefore, I'm not worried about Portis. And you maybe right about one thing, the Coryell offense, requires a smart QB...and I can tell you it isn't Brunell. If fact, you know who's a good person to ask if Brunell's smart or not? Clinton Portis! I'm sure he can answer it for you...
I don't think you were even born when Faulk played, cause it sure sounds like you're 5. Betts and Cartwright are realizble and are POWERFUL, like Riggins and Portis. It takes a month of real NFL games, not OTAs in shorts and no pads. Yeah, I'm scared of Jones... Bledsoe too... and your amazing CBs that don't allow TD's. If Brunell isn't smart, then why did he have a better passer rating than Peyton Manning until Week 9?sMoss what do you think?
