and gangs of all types...they as bad
Lanny, remember in HS days when there were rumbles between schools?
There was always a lot of talk going around then small & fat dudes would show up with chains and tire irons. Then nothing happened, mostly
Sorry, I should have quoted locally or regionally. Because in all honesty that is the bulk of the news I pay attention to. I can’t change things back east so I really don’t put much effort into the details of what goes on. The older I get the more I’m starting to think that the only governing that ever really matters is local government because that’s where you can actually have a voice and get some things done. So I have really tried to focus more on a local level Denny national or global level.
This is a fact and cannot be denied.
What exactly did I leave it out? I noted that the KKK and white supremacist or his stork Lee violent. But like I said as far as I know, and from what I have seen, by and large, not always, the rate has been putting on peaceful demonstrations of which antifa shows up in instigates violence.
Sorry, that kind of stuff never happened in Oswego/Lake Oswego or Lincoln High School, the two places I hung out. Jeez, you must have gone to a rough high school.
You left out the part where far Right demonstrators had more history of violence by far than ANTIFA. Not that I condone violence from Antifa. I'm just trying to put things in perspective.
Only because i thought we were speaking of events with gno involved and that timeline?
Of course nazis have a longer and bloodier history.
If anything Antifa should be looking at that and try to do the opposite. You cant condemn an act by partaking in the act itself unless its true self defense.
It's not just back East, it's the entire country. And BOY it sure would be nice to not have to "put much effort into the details"... That must be a privilege. It's in Oregon too. You really didn't hear about the TRUMPET that killed those brave men on the MAX? You didn't hear about the RACIST pieces of shit that ran down that black kid at the 7-11 in Gresham?
This is just last year in our own city...
They are killing black people in MY CITY... I am forced to put effort into the details..
And you couldn't be more wrong with saying only local government matters.
Right now we have a racist president who has created a climate of hate and allowed the racism that was bubbling up to boil over.
That was a national vote.
I can't, because they didn't make the story all about themselves, unlike your buddy Ngo. For some reason, all the other reporters (and would-be reporters) reported, instead of participating.
Seems like you should, if this is a subject you are interested in.

I know who joey gibson is, but i dont know who he is. Get it? Ive never conversed with him, so no. i wouldn't want him there because i dont know him
Oh i get it, and im a bit ignorant as to the history of white supremacy post 60’s, as it seems to have split into many different facets and ideals. All still the same but tweaked a bit i suppose.
Believe it or not, to me we are arguing semantics and agree on the bigger picture.
Im just saying i don't fault Gno in the least for trying to get out there and make more people aware of what is going on in our town.
D, you proved my point. I didnt vote for our current president. However, there he sits.
Im paying more attention to whats going into our local waters and expanded zoning for high density res and industrial parks. Keep in mind im in Canby now. I feel i can actually make a difference at the local level and am putting more energy into that.
Im saying two wrong dont make a right. The focus shouldn't be on Gno because he put himself in that position. The focus should be on those who cant be civil and initiate violence on non aggressors simply because they don't like what they say.
The thing is, ive been condemning white superiority my whole life. Its senseless.
But it has been around my whole life and ive seen improvements. The goal is obviously not reached, but the path has been a fairly productive one sonce the civil rights movement. Yes with ups and down, like anything long term, but i believe we are improving regardless of our sitting president.
I Dont think Antifa realizes that they are actually bringing a hault to this and forcing us to step backwards by using Trump as an excuse to break the law and assault innocent people.
They are feeding into what the white supremists want. It gives them an excuse to strike back now.
Violent demonstrations of ones ideals never gain support and almost always help to solidify and expand their adversaries.
I know there is a big picture problem with racism, but i can only control my surroundings and my locality.
So i focus more on local happenings.
D, yes i heard about both of those incidents and they were vocally viscerated. Nobody said to the victims, “well when you are on a busy max, there is a higher percentage of being assaulted, so you are part responsible for the violence that came upon you. “
See how ridiculous that sounds????
Thats all I've been saying.
So many in here did vote for him. Again, it was a national vote and national politics matters just as much as local. This is my point.
As one who experiences different levels of racism daily, I can assure you we are not.
Sure. But my point is im not other people. Lol.
I still vote on federal things, but thats all you can do. Study and vote. There is no direct, first person back and forth like what can be had at city council meetings and local government.
I can meet local townsfolk and influence their opinion on an upcoming election topic through debate and actually have it make a difference.
I cant do that on a national level. Nor do i want to. Lol.
Have you lived outside of oregon?
Having been someone who has lived in most parts of the country, including the east, i assure you we have. As devastating as the event was, 911 alone was a huge bump in the right direction with regards to Americans Uniting regardless of race.
I saw it first hand living in NY during that time.
Like i said. All things that are a long term process and has waves and I'm not saying we aren't on the low end of a wave at the moment, but race relations have improved and i think, will continue to improve as the old racist farts die off and the young are educated by more than just their parents hatred via social media and news outlets.
To me racial inequality is a global issue, that can only be resolved within individual households. Bigotry is most often learned through parents.
If you ask me, THIS should be the topic of debate. How do we hault the implementation of racial hatred from parent to child without infringing on the rights of the family?
Until we figure this out? Its all just reactionary
Haven't lived but I've been many places. I used to tour remember?
Got called the N in CLE when I smiled at an old white lady in the mall. I experienced racism at the ATL Airport. Don't even get me to talking about Vegas or SLC. In Idaho, the power went out at the mall and only the black people (myself and he people I was with) were arbitrarily kicked out. I had $1000 dollars in my pocket at the time.
Houston is lovely though. Lots of diversity. Didn't experience an iota of racism even though TX is the most racist state in the union.
Check this out.
Bout fucking time!!!!!
Stop with this J. This is clear bullshit.
I don't live in any other country but America and we're talking good ol' homegrown AMERICAN racism.
Our country is WROUGHT with it. It is systematic and CANNOT only be quelled from within the home.
How can me raising my son to treat others equally save me from being denied housing because I'm black?
Sure, but D dont take this wrong, but you are Black. Racist folk will seek you out.
What im saying is growing up id listen and hear alot more racist comments from white peers than i do these days. I understand there are certain aspects that i cant comprehend on your side, but i believe this i can.
I believe the percentage of racist biggeted people is going down.
I think it shows in many facets of our culture, work force, government law, many things.
See in your instance, duplicate it 30 years ago.
You might still have one guy call you an N for smiling at the lady, but there might have been three or four more per ten people in that room also racist.
The action is the same and the result the same, but what you don't know is how many other people around that guy is also racist. I believe thst number is less than it used to be.
I have to go. Rehearsal. Nit dogging out of the discussion.
