Wait, what? I'll make any joke I like if it is funny.

Kramer screaming the N word isn't funny. Not because he shouldn't say it but because it isn't funny.

Well now the deed is done.
    What was the mission?
    What actually changes in Portland?

And spend more money with no other mission is interesting. Having a Mayor that leads like this is also interesting. Perhaps there is a little more?

Mental masturbation is awesome! I love jizzing all over my brain.

    ....ahem....

I welcome the new hire, and hope that she succeeds here in Portland with an honest, uncorrupted, peaceful, safe, and unbiased career. But she should know that she is a tool of a far-Left Mayor with an agenda, and she's practically a politician in a police uniform now. She'll do whatever he tells her to do....I don't buy this argument that "women from Oakland take no shit." Wrong. She's an employee with a boss, and she'll do whatever her boss tells her to do.

I don't know how they do it in Oakland, but I doubt that she'll be out patrolling neighborhoods, which I strongly believe every chief in the country should do at least twice a week for a full shift. It allows them to see their officers in action, and interact with the community.

My concerns only extend to these two issues: 1) was there nobody local who was equally or more qualified? And 2) depending on the location, hiring outside the department or community can actually be pretty damaging. A chief should also be in touch with his/hers officers and command staff, as well as the community. She will not have that luxury as an outsider.

I'm also very concerned that they held closed-door meetings with select individuals to select this candidate, instead of opening the doors to the public entirely, and letting ALL of Portland select a new Chief. That smells to me like extreme bias and favoritism; something which a police chief should never be exposed to.

So you think there is a little more to the story, yet to be told? Or yet to see.?
Well the Mayor has his gal. And the Portland police might have the message about career path in the Rose City.

In short, yes. Hopefully, she has a productive and safe career. But I'm willing to bet money she won't, and her race or gender has absolutely nothing to do with that.

You must not know women from Oakland. And no one was insinuating that she wouldn't do as her boss says, but mayor or not she must uphold the law.

You want to talk about being a tool of the mayor which makes no sense IMO.

Rick Frashour still has a fucking job!! The mayor fired him remember?

I wasn't down there, but I did listen to friends/family who went downtown.
They told me it was super peaceful until around 5.
Soon as they saw the protesters who covered their face my friends/family left, because they believed the police would be coming.
I'm not sure if I would've made that same judgement, but I can't fault them for their thought.

I'm actually disappointed the protest will be remembered for two things.
The destruction of your home, and the blocking of i-5.
But I believe that's due to the news & people not having flexible jobs.

"she must phold the law"...you are absolutely correct on that. I'm glad to hear you say that, dviss, and I agree with you completely on this point. I'm sure if any police officer follows department policy and lawfully shoots a subject during a dangerous situation, regardless of race/gender/religion, then you'll support the Chief if she supports her officer's actions, without any emotional drama, swearing, or ignorant arguments based on feelings.

    I have faith in you.

But it was a LAWFUL shooting. You just admitted that you believe the Chief must act lawfully, and I agree with you that she must. It doesn't sound to me like someone who fires an officer who has been cleared by a court of law, internal review or arbitration, is acting under the letter of the law.

Seems pretty clear to me. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's unlawful.
