There was no personal attack in ToB's post.

He clearly attacked your post and not you as a poster. I'm just not seeing the problem here.

Instead of complaining why not help? Instead of making a giant issue out of this why not just say, "You know, it wasn't my intention to perosnally insult _______, I just didn't like what they were saying. I don't agree with you editing me but I'll go back and re-edit my post so ______ clearly knows I was disagreeing with them and not insulting them." I don't understand why you want to turn this into a giant pissing match.

I can't answer that. I didn't edit it. I've already said that I think resorting to name calling and insults takes away from posts and suggests a closed door on things.

Keep in mind, I've been called an ignoramus, fucking retard, moron and an idiot in the last week. All for having a different opinion on things. Had they said "your post was" before it, I wouldnt have cared. Since they didn't...actually, I didn't care either way, because when you resort to name calling and insults, you've shown you aren't capable of having an adult conversation and therefore it's no longer something I worry about.

I try my best, but I know I fail, to not resort to insults and swearing AT people on here. I over-write my responses, and take my time responding. I try my best not to be misunderstood (if you saw the edit process I go through in the middle of posts, you'd probably laugh and be convinced I'm OCD or something).

Not sure what any of this has to do with what you posted though. I probably felt compelled to improve my post after seeing the last few from Nate and SPD.

    Bullshit.

He specifically cited your post in his sentence.

You did not specifically cite the post when you attacked her.

You know what dude, it was an edit. I tried to explain this to you after your hostile PM's and you're simply not getting it. I'm not sure what your problem is lately, but you need to chill out. A lot of shit gets thrown around on this forum, and sometimes the mods see something that they feel needs to be removed. Just deal with it. Sly has even edited some of my posts from time to time.

If you honestly think that calling someone "fucking idiotic" is acceptable, then I think you need to reevaluate why you're posting here.

I thought weather has a lot to do with the "depression" in an area. I know it's not the only contributing factor; but the "per capita" leaders are in areas with rainy climates.

On the matter, I would think the higher than average suicide rates have a lot to do with the younger demographic moving here, coupled with high student loans and a lack of jobs.

That's not entirely true. In some studies, Las Vegas leads the nation (based on city), and it's weather is hardly rainy. Same with Tucson. Or Albuquerque. Or Tampa (they have a lot of rain, but it's not necessarily cloudy for long periods of time like Portland can be). Or Honolulu. Or Salt Lake City.

Of the top 10 states, http://www.suicidology.org/c/document_library/get_file?folderId=262&name=DLFE-635.pdf, 1 is in a rainy climate (well, reputation of having one). Oregon.

Most people don't think of New Mexico, Nevada, Montana, Utah, Arizona, South Dakota, Idaho or Wyoming having crappy weather.

Alaska, yeah. Oregon? Sure. Is it necessarily a connection? The data doesn't seem to show a connection.

Alaska probably has a high rate because of the extreme lack of women.... and now TLC is stealing even more of their local ladies to make a stupid reality tv show.

Interesting... I'm surprised that Utah would be in the leaderboard; since it is mainly a Mormon demographic. Nevada could be accounted for the losses in gambling I guess. New Mexico and Arizona seems a little odd to me.

Alaska and the 30 days in a row and the 30 nights can really fuck with your mind.

Oregon has too many liberals! ;)

Their daylight and night is crazy.

There are times when they have 18 hours of daylight. Then only 6 hours of night.

Some areas there where the sun never sets and in the winter, the sun never rises.

That can really fuck with you IMO.

Utah could be a repressive religion, or lack of caffeine...who knows. Utah has very beautiful scenery (so does Oregon. Well, all states do).

It's a hard subject to pinpoint what the cause is. It's highly unlikely that the main cause of suicides in the US are different state to state. There might be minor causes that vary from state to state, but I doubt it's anything significant, especially considering that the data doesn't support a polarity of weather related causes.

Alaska has like a 9 to 1 male to female ratio.

That is true, however I don't think those areas are heavily populated, nor would the #'s of people there have the impact on the state averages that would, in turn, greatly change the totals.

Although I suspect you're saying that to be funny, it's not even close to accurate.

    It's actually just about a 1 to 1 ratio. (52 to 48)

if the ratio is 52-48, it pretty much means that the ratio of single men to single women would still be close.

For all the married women, there are married men.
