Sorry but who gives a shit what the Bible or Quran says? I don't. Those two books are the genesis of the most violence and death the earth has ever seen.
vent much dviss? ever get really pissed off at senseless murder? yeah.....I'm human and flawed...and against jihad attacks on innocents...if you're thinking I'm Christian.....I'm not....I'm anti murder .....this ain't about me.....I clearly said...nothin' pisses me off more than these assholes....I am better than this guy ramming a schoolbus....so are you....the can't get to heaven smelling like pork is a Frank Zappa quote...if my post offends you...his actions offended me enough to write the post
I know you're not a christian, I'm just saying that whole pork thing has been attributed to Muslims when Christians (at least their book) says the same thing. I know you were venting. I know you were pissed. I also know you're better than what you said.
And it's not that the post offends me. I'm in the First Class section on the fuck religion train. It's that it was only said because he's Muslim. It seems you needed some perspective there. Kareem Abdul Jabbar doesn't eat pork either. Don't let the heinous actions of another make it so you quote racist songs by Frank Zappa... A foolish young man Of the Negro Persuasion Devoted his life To become a caucasian He stopped eating pork He stopped eating greens He traded his dashiki ("Uhuru!") For some Jordache Jeans He learned to play golf An' he got a good score Now he says to himself "I AIN'T NO NIGGER NO MORE . . . HEY! HEY! HEY!" "I don't understand you . . . " BWANA MA-COO-BAH "Would you please speak more clearly . . . " MERCEDES BAINNNNNNNZ
Frank was a satirist, not a racist...he always said, to be a social anthropologist, sometimes you put on the grass skirt and eat the bowl of worms...he equally skewed about every sub culture on the planet.....brilliant guy actually and definitely no racist. I think you're fishin' for an adversary here....if you don't like Zappa..that's fine....if you know his work, you'd know he was an atheist...all religions to Frank were fair game for satire.
@HomerLovesKoolAid I think has jammed at Zappa's house. Or took part in some orgies. Or jammed during some orgies.
I knew someone who jammed with Zappa. I wonder if it is the same person. Edit: nevermind the person I know that jammed at a Zappa orgy was a guitarist. Maybe he and @HomerLovesKoolAid crossed swords err streams err paths once?
Frank Zappa basically says in those lyrics that to not be a N you have to stop doing stereotypical Black things... But Frank Zappa aside, venting or not, you still said something beneath you in an effort to paint all Muslims when Christians aren't supposed to eat pork either. Had it been a Christian would you even have mentioned pork? I think not. And frank wasn't talking about not being Muslim, he was talking about not being black. Changing from black to white.
If it was a Jew he probably wouldve. Cause Jews aren’t supposed to eat pork. Learn something about the book you’re trying to spout off about.
You should google Ike Willis. Amazing voice, (that's who signing on the song you have issue with) lived in Portland for years.
Please tell me what he's saying then. It seems pretty clear to me. He should've never said the N word but whatever... The song is about people being inadvertently racist by imitating another race. In one verse, a white man wants to sing the blues, but he thinks he can only do this if he lives the lifetsyle - i.e looks, behaves and talks like an outdated stereotype of a black man. In the second verse, a black man who used to be a radical of some sort (hence the mention of a daishiki) is trying to insulate himself from racism by "becoming a caucasian", which means rejecting an arbitrary selection of black lifetsyle icons (i.e not eating pork and greens!) and mixing with the worst of white society (whilst playing golf). Zappa is still saying these stereotypes are attributed to being black and being white and therefore perpetuating them. Bottom line, my statement above has nothing to do with Frank Zappa. It has everything to do with attributing pork to Muslims when it can be attributed to Christians as well. Pork was only said because the terrorist was Muslim. Let's not change the narrative.
The lyrics, which essentially tell the listener to be themselves and embrace their culture, tell the stories of two young men, both of whom Zappa describes as "foolish". The first man is from a middle class family who has a great life, but he pretends to come from a culture of hardship and sings the blues to be manly. Then the song refers to him as even trying to eat like someone going through hardship. He begins to talk like the character Kingfish, from the radio show Amos and Andy, who was known for being a heavily stereotypical black character. These themes overall relate to Zappa's dislike of poseurs. The second young man "of the negro persuasion, devoted his life to become a caucasian". Like the first man, he changes his diet to fit in with the culture he is looking to join. It goes over the stereotype of African Americans eating pork and collard greens. His story is a commentary on African Americans who are not proud of their heritage and feel following the Caucasian culture would bring them more acceptance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Are_What_You_Is_(song)
