What if that's coupled with swapping CJ for Harris (as many have suggested), and Barnes shifts down to the 2? Feels like that could be a pretty big, long, and strong defensive unit.

any scenario where CJ is traded is a waste of energy tbh.

Barnes is more of a true 3 and Harris I feel like is better as a smaller 4. Forcing Barnes to play the 2 would be a disaster, in my opinion.

Apparently no team inquiring about Andre Drummond has even offered a 1st round pick for him. I think some people are overvaluing him.

The teams that could use him should honestly just shift their focus to Whiteside. Drummond is younger and may be a little better, but not by much, and Whiteside could be had for less. Sacramento keeps standing out to me as the most obvious team in the market for a center that also has pieces to interest Portland.

The 4 year age difference is pretty big considering Drummond is just entering his prime while Whiteside is on the back end of it though. I wish you were right as it would be great to get something for Whiteside.

Whiteside isn’t that old when you look at the contracts bigs in their 30s get. Horford just got $100m at 33. Aldridge was 30 when the Spurs gave him the max. That’s just off the top of my head, I’m sure there are more examples.

There isn’t a player in the league Olshey would trade CJ for.

the list of players he would trade CJ for is a lot shorter than it should be. It probably looks something like this:

    LeBron

Of course he's not that old when you compare him to people his same age but the comparison is to Drummond not Aldridge and Horford. BTW, the Horford signing isn't looking good.

My point is if a team hesitates on paying him, it won’t be because of his age.

And personally, I don’t think Whitesides production will have much of a drop within the frame of a four year contract, just like I don’t believe Drummond will get much better than he is now.

Look, when 29 other teams stop being jealous of our backcourt leading us to 8 games under .500, then maybe the options will expand.

To me it's essential to get rid of Baze and Hassan for a strong-ass man of a wing in the 15M+ a year range + solid backup big + expiring contract (?). No, I don't know how you work that and with who either. But it's possible a team trying to make a deep playoff run would want Hassan, especially because the Lakers are huge down low and hard to match in size. Any contender would love to have Hassan I think, but what would such a team be willing to give up?

In a salary cap league, every dollar you over-pay for a player lowers their value. Blazers aren't the only team that struggles with that concept, but they are certainly on the list. Now that the boys of '16 are mostly gone, CJ is our worst offender. That's reason 1 he has less trade value than some people think. Reason 2 is that his game wouldn't fit with some teams/coaches. Amazingly enough, not everybody around the league would be over-joyed by a no defense/me first offense team-mate!

Wooten signed by NYK. They waived Rabb, who now becomes an option for us.

How do you know what McCollum's trade value is?

    of course.

Rabb wouldn’t be bad though and he’s boys with Dame.

I like rabb coming out of college but seems struggling at this level. But believe we already have Rabb type player that Hoard.

    Who here "knows" anything?:dunno:

This is a sports forum, not a psychic hotline. I presented an argument why I believe he is being over-valued as a trade asset. Rather than refuting my argument, this comes across as just telling me to shutup. Kind of defeats the purpose of the forum, doesn't it?
