Teams don’t usually make trades in November. I’m not sure how desperate the front court situation is right now either, since I have no idea when Gasol is coming back, and Nurks ETA could be earlier than February. I’m not sensing the same urgency from the team as from the fans though, and they’re the ones that actually know what’s going on.

I've been playing with this a bit more.

    Is this fair?

Porter has a player option that he's most likely going to decline to be a FA next season. Portis and Gibson both have team options for next year.

Bulls get 4 second round picks for Porter without taking on any long-term salary.
Knicks get their "star" to build around.
Portland gets a legit SF, and a fill-in PF. They also get a budding star (Robinson) and a decent prospect (Ntilikina). This balances out Portland's roster significantly & makes them deadly if Nurk/Collins can return in time for the playoffs.

My problem is his 19mil next yr, Simons emergence, which I think will continue, makes CJ expendable in a trade for a SF/PF at least in my view. I continue to like the idea of CJ to Orl for AG and small change/filler. AG has a much more favorable contract than CJ with declining money the 2 yrs after this (18 mil 20/21 and 16 mil 21/22 I believe)

IMO Porter is overpaid and too injury prone, rather try to get AG from Orlando

Both AG and Porter are over rated as is CJ, rather have the cheaper AG who plays D pretty well and can defend a few positions. Porter makes about 10 mil more than AG next yr and has a player option for 28 mil the season after, AG declines to 18 mil next yr and 16 mil after that - so 2 ys after this locked in at a "fair price"

Porter isn't. He's regularly been a 40%+ 3pt shooter during his career and is a good defender. AG is a poor shooter who doesnt defend well.

    Around the 9 minute mark

“I’m a big fan of Bogdanovic.”

Keep that quote in mind. With Hield locked up and Bagley and Fox due to get paid in the next year or two, Bogdanovic could be the odd man out. He’d be a perfect fit in Portland.

He's been playing elite defense since he was given consistent minutes.

It's safe to say that Frank Ntilikina has played himself out of attainability.

Here are some contracts in Whiteside and Bazemores range that I think Portland could look at

    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Steven Adams
    Gallinari
    Aaron Gordon
    Draymond
    Tristan Thompson
    Julius Randle
    Favors

But my most realistic target remains Marvin Williams. It’s not sexy, but it fits Olsheys MO since he probably wouldn’t cost them much besides a pick or two.

A lot will also depend on how Melo looks though.

    My trade deadline dream:

DET Gets: Hassan Whiteside, Nassir Little, 2 or 3 Future 1sts
    POR Gets: Blake Griffin

CHI Gets: Kent Bazemore, Skal Labissiere, 2 or 3 Future 2nds
    POR Gets: Otto Porter Jr.

    Lillard (36) / Simons (12)
    McCollum (34) / Simons (8) / Hood (6)
    Porter Jr. (30) / Hood (18)
    Griffin (33) / Melo (15)
    Nurkic (27) / Collins (21)

    That team would be deadly.

With Porter's hip situation I'm guessing Chicago would dump him for expirings without any pick compensation at this point.

Can't trade Melo under any cisrcumstances.

He's been on load management this season because of a "hip condition." There are rumors he has a degenerative condition but Chicago has been pretty quiet about it. It's not a good sign that they're holding him out of games this early in the season. Although Aldridge had a hip issue around the same age and he turned out okay.

I’d swap Baze for Iggy in a second.
