Wright would really be a good fit. A big defensive minded point guard that can play next to all of Portland’s other guards.

Yup! That's what me and @hoopsjock have been saying all season! Could maybe get assets back for taking on a 2-year contract.

I just came up with something similar:

DAL Gets: Hassan Whiteside. Caleb Swanigan
MIN Gets: Courtney Lee, Justin Jackson, Boban Marjanovic
POR Gets: Gorgui Dieng, Dorian Finney-Smith, 2020 GSW 2nd (via DAL)

Dieng would be a $16M expiring and a good big replacement for Whiteside. DFS is a solid bench forward on a cheap contract. We'd also duck the tax and get an early 2nd.

Going into the off-season with picks between 12-16, 31-33, and 42-46 would be nice. Also, we'd have Ariza and Dieng as trade chips and serviceable role players. Pretty good for getting under the tax! That would be a good deadline from Olshey if Jody said "Get under the tax!". Would set us up well for the future.

I'd be surprised if Dallas is interested in Whiteside.

Feel like Taj Gibson would be the most rational target for them.

    Better fit too.

Taj fits into their TPE too without going into the tax.

If Dallas was going to trade for Taj and Portland wanted anything from the Knicks that would be a way to duck the tax this year. I hope it doesn't come to that though.

I don't think they will include DFS in any deal right now. He is too valuable for them with guarding opponents best player and his greatly improved three point shot

What I don't get about these kind of statements is that just because they trade Whiteside doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't have a big anymore other than the injured guys. There could be a big coming back in the trade or they could acquire one with the Hood DPE.

February 6th can't come soon enough. 51 pages of trade ideas that likely never happen, but after the deadline there will a week of blaming Olshey for not making a deal that was never available. :devilwink:

I doubt a role-player at forward would stop them from acquiring the league leader in blocks whos averaging 16/14/3. They have a $11.8M TPE that they could us to find a replacement.

Well let's wait first for the big report that Olshey was closing to getting a superstar, but he didn't feel ready to part with his "assets"

Why in the world would Washington do that?

And why would we want Iggy? Hed want a buyout or he wouldnt play. Trading Little for Iggy would be dumb regardless... If Washington wanted that then itd make more sense to just trade Whiteside for Mahinmi and Bertans.

Gibson? Hah. Dudes been awful this year. They need a big with size that can bang down low.

Ive noticed you tend to overrate the trade value of other teams players and underrate the trade value of ours.
