I like the way JBB rewarded people for having at least a couple of sentences per post, otherwise you wouldn't be able to count that in your total. The current system rewards post padders.

And certain people should use the Random Topic thread more. I don't need to read a random comment about your "quiz grade" in a Brook Lopez thread.

Do I have to dig up all your recent posts or something? It's almost a habit with you.

I wasn't just talking about you, but let me copy what you stated in a Lopez thread.

That's not necessary. Use the RTT.

You're diluting the quality of the forum. Just post in the Random Topic thread dude. It comes off as post padding to be honest.

You don't have to slit your wrists, don't make it sound like you're being asked an impossible task.

We strive to be a loose and friendly site that doesn't take itself too seriously. While not everyone does it, we also strive to be a site-wide community where fans of all teams interact and inside jokes are carried all over.

Additionally, not everything requires a couple of sentences to be expressed. In my professional job, I write and edit reports that require a degree of precision that at times, becomes rather painful. There is no reason to require verbosity for the sake of verbosity.

Well then, we have the case where I post "LOL" as a response in one post, then I double post with a random comment (which is what occurred in the Lopez thread).

I simply feel the rules aren't just being broken a couple of times, but some members are falling into bad habits. I know some LA posters that do this as well.

Considering that what you are calling a Brook Lopez thread is really an ongoing joke between o.ia and myself, I'm not worried about the "quality" in the thread. The entire point of the thread was to call me out and it was successful.

The standards are looser than they were at JBB. What you are calling rules violations aren't.

I have to agree. It's kind of annoying to see "LOLZZZ" as a post. I'm cool with one sentence posts, but as long as they add something to the discussion. Going completely off topic or posting something like "LOL" or "LMAO" and other crap like that is what annoys me. If you're going to make a post, at least have it add to the discussion and not just be something completely pointless just for the sake of jacking up your post count. And trust me, I've seen plenty of culprits for this, so I'm not calling out anyone in particular.

Fair enough point about the "quality" of that thread, but that's not the only example. I'm about to leave for a Bio Lab class in 10 minutes, but I guess you want me to post more examples then, right? It's not personal or anything but there are too many "+1" posts on this forum and the like.

I can also understand double-triple posting if one is commenting on a Live NBA game or something, but otherwise this forum should promote a certain fashion of conduct.

No, I don't want any more examples. I know exactly what you are talking about and this has been discussed in very painful ways before among admins, mods and posters.

You, like some others don't agree with it, but there are looser standards here. This is not a formal place and the conduct we want is for everyone to respect everyone else.

Posts like that have no place in the middle of a serious discussion. However, we have a lot of threads that are jovial in nature and very prone to tangents. The tangents especially happen when you have groups of people that have been posting together for years.

Personally speaking, if I make a joke, I like to know if others found it funny. Otherwise, what is the point of making a joke?

That informality is what will sell this place to new users. There are plenty of rigid sites out there, and plenty of completely unmoderated wilds. This site combines the best of both, without descending into either extreme. I wouldn't tamper with that.

So you're saying you're ok with posts like "LOLZZZ", or "LMAO!!!", or "+1"? I don't know about you, but those are useless as shit. I'm cool with looser standards, but goddamn you have to throw the hammer down somewhere. If it's not adding anything to the topic, much like my examples do not, than it shouldn't be allowed. Crap like that is just an eyesore and it's beyond pointless as shit. Like I said, I'm cool with looser standards, but you have to tighten up with crap like that.

Just to chime in before you run off to class Huevon.

I think you have to approach short posts with some perspective. Speaking for myself sometimes I'll use a +1 or LOL or whatever because it's my initial response to a subject.

Whether I'm restricted by time or don't have an explanation at the time to elaborate the emotion or viewpoint. I do I try to go back and respond though.

I don't think what Oscar did was wrong. He specifically told CPAW to look and they have some inside joke about Brook Lopez. Maybe a PM would have been useful, but the topic can hopefully evolve into a nice discussion about the upcoming draft.

    My two cents.

Posts about post quality are not quality posts!

Seriously, I would like to see a "word count" function that showed off the number of original words (outside quote tags) that folks wrote. I just think it'd be interesting.

But on the bigger topic, letting folks let their hair down and be one of the girls is what we're all about [IMG]

You are being too rigid. Humor can and does happen anywhere on this site.

There are too many 30+ plus year olds on this site to attempt to be rigid about humor, laughter and tangents.
