If Machado does in fact arrive I can envision this conversation. Stanton: Uh Manny, I mean , as an experienced Yankee welcome to the team. We all are hoping you'll hustle up to first out of the box. Machado: well thanks for that advice K-man I hear home plate is 10 degrees cooler every time you take an at bat.

Here’s the thing, and I’ve tried explaining it to my buddies...let’s say Yankees sign Machado. Ok. He plays SS but then if/when Didi comes back what now? You have Stanton as DH, you have Andujar at 3rd, Torres at 2nd. Unless Machado plays 1st or Andujar plays 1st there’s really no place for Machado on this team (Nevermind all the off the field bs and even on the basepath bs). If they really wanted Machado, they’d have to trade Andujar and get back a legit #1 for him. That simple.
One of the staff writers at River Avenue Blues wrote an article stating that if the Yankees did acquire Machado, best case would be to move Andujar to first base. That would make at least some sense but I'd still rather see the Yankees not acquire Machado there are tooo many options out there to cover the infield. Play Andujar at 3rd, GT at Short, het a good 2nd baseman and continue to march. Stanton was living recent proof of a high priced FA who end resulted in the wrong way. Cashman would curry much favor if the could get Stanton out of NY. Send him to LA, the Dodgers like those huge salaries.
Saw that on ESPN Sports. He may not be what he once was but if he can be as he was once for this season he'd be a damn good fill in for Di Di. And the Yankees could say toddles to Machado wish him luck in Philly.
I'm cool with signing LeMahieu and eventually moving Andujar to 1B. Machado? No, we don't need another monster contract. Especially one that doesn't want to hustle out of the box to first base.
Jack Curry, Bob Lorenz, & John Flaherty are all “Gaga” over Machado! It’s like they have a ring in their noses and they’re being pulled by ‘the Machado seizure’. Hype. Hype. Hype!
